Hey Grant, great site

Good Luck in the business world.............
well, I'll tell you what looks a small number end up getting made and shipped out within a week, and another small number take a long ass time and then there is a small number that gets shipped out on their estimated date. and then there is a small number that just have to wait an additional week or a couple of days.

I unfortunatly was the last option on the above para. But I am close enough to the shipping date, but it soemtimes worries me when I see on this site an order that goes from phase 4 to 14 in 24 hours, what kind of testing will happen in 24 hours...that Doesn't sound very probable. if any problems occur, they have to consider them as minor. I would think...don't you?

OK here is the scoop after the delivery.. (one semi-large problem, but fixed)

*****MARCH 31 Fedex delivered the system at approx 3:00pm****
- I unpacked it taking pictures of everything (great packing by the way)
- BONUS = free case.. i didnt expect that.. not very good quality though and i will probably find a better one
- outside inspection turned up no physical defects
- removed plastic protection from screen.. no physical defects
- pluged in power, ethernet, & mouse,
- turned on the machine, went through windows activation etc..
- did not see any bad pixels and the screen looks great..
- loaded virus protection, updated windows..
- I noticed i did not have a drive letter D: for the second hard drive (it went strait to the DVDROM)
after investigating this, the "my alienware pc information.xml" left on the desktop from the factory was also only showing one HD durring the testing which told me it was this way in the factory..

- I called Customer service at 7:00pm approx and told them the scenerio.. Customer service told me to look in the knowledge base and enter 3087 in the search box.. an article came up to see how to open the case and reseat the hard drives.. i told him i am not a tech person and am not qualified to do this and I did not want to ruin my warrantee if i broke something in the process of doing so.. He assured me i wouldnt break anything but i... i did NOT open the case..
(this whole conversation with him the phone decible level was very low, i could not hear the man well, and his thick accent was hard to descipher)

- He then transfered me to Tech Support .. He determined that the second hard drive was never formated.. he walked me though the process of activating the second drive and formating it.. drive now seems to be fine

- Email came in from techsupport @ 7:15am confirming our conversation

- next to load all the software and do some bench testing

::update:: after reviewing my tracking info, it now appears that my little 5lb. box has made its way out of FL (its origin and intended destination) and up to Atlanta. The 30lb. box, or Little Three-Oh as I call it, has no updates since departure from The Bermuda Tri-i-mean Orlando. So... uh, super-dooper. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Seems normal for a Quadro

6800go DDR3 will get you much higher scores though. The Quadro is not the ideal gaming GPU but it will do...

Congrats on the system

the Mj-12m is a 7700 model.. the Area51m is a 7700 model...
they just offer different options.. the mj-12m is geared towards 3d creation professionals etc and offer the nvidia Quadro card for example.. the area51m is geared towards gamers.. but its basically the same machine..
