So I unpacked the computer and turned it on and it started beeping at me. My dad was in the room watching me finish windows settings before going into BIOS and was getting very irritated at the beep so he called tech support. I knew it was some sort of power or temperature alarm, so my dad handed me the phone and I told this to the tech support guy. Needless to say, I couldn't understand him, and he couldn't understand me, but he had me open the case to see if there was an error code on the motherboard. Then he put me on hold to see what "the decision to the problem" was...I quickly discovered that one of the fans was stuck. A brief tap fixed it. Then the cell phone disconnected. No call back. He's probably still trying to figure out why it was beeping. I can see an inexperienced user screaming STOP BEEPING! and just sending the machine back.

Man that happened after I installed water cooling. Being I had just removed the processor fan I could only imagine the beeping was telling me you're frying your new Pentium 4 ha ha. Now I use UGURU and look at my fans as part of a rountine before gaming or overclocking.
You're most likely right on with your statement about inexperienced users sending it back.
I also have beeping and shutdown configured for my water pump and radiator fan. If any fans stop, I get the alarm (beeps) then if temps rise I have it shut the system down. uGURU also has a black box feature to troubleshoot system crashes and such.

Glad you got that figured out without too much hassle.
I had a sort of funny tech experience that showed the beauty of AW. I took my lappy into our universities tech support people to get my universities wireless connected. The first tech checked over the lappy pretty thoroughly...enthralled by the glowing eyes and asking bunch of questions about AW. He then took it in the back for a minute to get closer to the wireless router.
While he was gone I talked to this other student who was excited that he had just gotten a new Dell and proceeded to tell me how bada$$ it was and everything about it (it was a cheaper Dell). When my comp came back with another tech and the tech proceeded to tell me how bada$$ my computer was and asked me a crapload of questions about it, the Dell guy just kinda shut up. 4 people asked me about my computer in the short time I was in there...
Not really funny...just made me feel all warm having an AW.
