EMEA shipping issue

Ok,

I order my laptop.

I wait 3-4 weeks. It then gets " shipped " or i get told its shipped on a tuesday.

Ok, now i get the shipping numbers from alienware and they don't work.

So i phone up alienware again and get ONE tracking number which tracks the 3 packages.

Now on the tracking profile it says that the packages where picked up on wednesday, not tuesday. Ok that pissed me off a little.

Now, i get this telephone call from DHL customs saying that i have to sign up for a importers code as any thing coming into NZ needs an importers code.

For fark sakes...

OK, now i have just got a call from alienware....

There is a power outage in auckland ( DHL Service Center )...

So, now i have to wait untill monday to get the packages shipped out.

Alienware have already some how paid the shipping tax or whatever it is. I have purchased numerous amounts of things into new zealand via international shipping and i have had 0 ( YEAH ZERO ) problems with this.

So, i am going to ring up DHL tomorow and i am gonna give them hell. I want my packages out of that warehouse on monday, not tuesday or wednesday i want it out of that warehouse on monday morning and i want it on my doorstep in the afternoon!

I am just so angry now, i have just spent 7,500$ with alienware and things just aren't working out properly.

HAs anyone got some suggestions? I haven't had this problem before, these customs people say i need to get an importers code and then fax it to them! I don't have a fax machine.... Fax's are LONG gone.

I talked to the guy at AW Austrailia ( Heath ) and hes a nice guy, he seems to be doing as much as he can! He said that Alienware are the importers, they are importing to a customer AND Alienware send most of there stuff through DHL ( Austrailia ) so, obviously DHL must have some info on Alienware, and when they have sent packages to and from New Zealand.

Can anyone suggest some thing to get my packages out of DHL without having to fill out a importers profile application form?

Thanks people, and please dont flame. I am really upset because i have been waiting for this for weeks and weeks. I spent my hard earned money and it looks like it gonna go down the drain.

I wish I knew a way to help.

By the way, what exactly is DHL?

its a major shipping company, its here in canada too, and is normally pretty good.

DHL hasnt been around as long as FedEx or UPS though. So there could be problems with the fact they havent been around as long. At least I wont have to deal with their service. My notebook is being sent to an APO address and DHL doesnt do that. It goes via USPS...which isnt saying much either.

I assume this is an issue with customs in New Zealand and wether they have to inspect or not and some major shippers who are overseas do have clearance certificates thus avoiding the customs ritual but since 9/11 the customs laws have changed in many countries...DHL, being the shipper, is now responsible for that and if you call them, you might want to be nice as they could let that sit for days if you piss off the wrong person...this is out of AW's hands...I would not make any irate calls or demands to DHL but ask if there is anything you can do to expedite this..good luck

Your money or rig is not going down the drain..the "importers code" is a pre-customs clearence thus avoiding inspection and maybe the fact that DHL was down had something to do with this..I asked the DHL guy today who delivered some things to our office and the above explan is what he said and also he stressed that the change in customs laws have effected shipping times greatly so I would be patient until you can establish just what is necessary or missing to make delivery to you..it may well have been that DHL was down that day and now all is well and you will have your rig soon..waiting is the hardest part, I waited 6 wks and I live in the US so your not alone on this...be cool, smoke some house plants or have a few cools ones and let us know what happened as were on your side..really

Ok ok ok, I live in Russia. Also had my package delivered via DHL from Alienware.UK.

I forked out about $4000 on the PC and then had to pay Russian Customs 30% tax, another $1000. That was after the machine was in customs for another week...aaaargh!

Anyway, I've had mine for 2 months now and NO WORRIES MATE!

Hang in there, just fill in the documents............

Be Cool

Well, i have filled in the forms and faxed it in to them.

So, I am hoping there are no errors on the application because that will just delay it even more. The people at DHL auckland are useless pricks, they don't do any thing for you. They just ask from you but no give from them...

I am really disapointed with DHL's lack of " help " or suggestions etc from them about this issue.

I am hoping to be receiving the laptop on tuesday or wednesday. If i don't, i am gonna be really angry and someone is gonna be talking to my lawyer.

TheMerovingian,
Have you tried to contact Your Alienware Rep using the link I gave you? You really should let them know how things are going. I bet they would contact DHL to check things.

Oh yeah, agrees with Aurora! You should let '"Alienware" Australasia know about your issues, they're only starting up you know......then they can at leasy warn future customers about possible delays or extra docs that need to be completed........etc etc etc...you know what I mean......

I hope we get a lot more EMEA reviews. Hopefully, including an area of the review all about the ordering and shipping processes. AlienRod is dead-on about how this info will help others that will be going through the same processes. and... I havent forgotten about EMEA owners. I have been sidetracked from that mission but I am still working on putting together an Alienware EMEA subforum so it will be easier for overseas owners to find information that relates to them. It will help me tremendously if thread titles begin with EMEA.
