After going through the most of the same symptoms that everybody else seems to have with this pcmcia sound card I found a solution that has been working well, i changed the driver for the cpu from ACPI Uniprocessor to ACPI Multiprocessor and the results have been great, no more popping and crackling playing Half Life 2 with the card set to the Highest settings for audio. The Ath64 driver on the Sager disk is worthless.
I want to be able to do recording on this thing so I want to make sure that the PCMCIA drivers for the Cardbus were all current so I starting investigating. The cardbus controller on this thing is supposed to be a ENE CB1410 but mine is reporting a TI PCI-1410, both through XP device manager and using ADIA32. The driver on my system is the damn windows driver dated 2001 so I know there has got to be an updated one. Tried to force the CB1410 driver but it won't do it.
I thought that windows and adia32 were just reporting it wrong, so I put linux on another partition, since I do most of my devel in it and I can trust the os. lspci on linux shows my cardbus is indeed a TI-1410. Anybody else have this cardbus controller in their lappy and possibly have an updated driver for XP. Sager doesn't have anything on their site for this piece of hardware.
