I am hoping that someone can help shed some light on why my laptop is acting the way it is. I did not purchase this laptop but was sent it by Compaq as a replacement for my older laptop which airborne ran over when I shipped it to the factory for service.
The issue I am having is that no matter what wireless card I use I can not successfully connect to an wireless connection. There is a few connections using a vpn software that will work some what ok but it is slow even for wireless. I notice when I am trying to connect that in network properties the card will change from active to disabled and then disappear and then reappear and still not connect. I have tried PCMCIA cards from linsys and dlink. I have also tried the cards using the installed software with xp wireless turned off and the other way around. The thing that annoys me is that when I am trying wireless the Ethernet adapter built into the notebook will disappear and then reinstall apon restart. This has also happened without the wireless. I have tried everything with the battery removed and have also used windows 2000 and have the same problems. I believe that there is a hardware issue with the mother board but am not sure and no one I have talked to can figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated.
