Rate my choice in a notebook.

It's the ABS G3. I love the 64 bit, but I desperately want a ATI X800, or at least a way to upgrade a laptop with one.

How well would that run Doom 3 and Half-Life 2? Also, in case it can't run it at max settings, what comparable laptop could I get with an upgradeable video card? Under 1700, and how hard would it be? Also, in case it doesn't already HAVE an X800, where could I get one for it?

ABS G3 is the Uniwill 258KOA series. It is a very nice laptop and you could find a lot of reviews around it. See sticky for some.

As for it having ATI 9700, you could run both DOom an HL2 with it w/o any problem and we have people here who has it running either one of those games.

There isn't an upgrade to X800 for it at the moment.
