where can I find the laptop I want?

I've been to a few different places but places like alienware seem to want to tell you what you want, instead of giving you a infinite amount of choices.

Here's what I deffinately want.

17 inch monitor
minimum 2 Ghz cpu
2 GB of DDR ram
10/1000 Ethernet card
DVD drive
(and the standard stuff of course)

the video card isn't too important since at most I'll watch some dvds or mpg/avis on it, doubt I'll play that many games on it. But it's possible.

the primary use for the laptop will be updating my two websites, which tends to eat up the memory due to the amount of multitasking I do.

I'd also like to have at least 4 hours of battery time if that's even possible if I say want to watch a couple dvds on the road. My work I can wait to do near a power outlet.

I'm assuming 2 Ghz Pentium M?
Dell Inspirion 9300 (customizable)
Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2

no, not really. I meant 2Ghz by regular standards. Basically I'm trying to save battery life by not getting the best videocard or fastest processor. Both of those seem to not give an option for the videocard. I would get the best of both worlds if the difference in battery life was minimal, but I've heard otherwise.

though I'm assuming by your response that you think 4 hours of battery life would be easy with those two?

Dell 9300 with coupons seems to be your best bet...

ok thanks. I think I'll get the 9300 then.

just to let you know... 4 hours battery life is the MAX for the Dell 9300. watching DVDs, you're more likely to get 2.5 or so.

oh, I see. Maybe I'll spring for the extra battery.

Asus W2... it's 17", lighter than the Dell and should provide better battery life.
