I am a developer by profession and work with various cpu intensive apps simultaneously. Also do a bit of gaming (counter strike and q3a). I am planning to get a mobile workstation and here are the two options given to me (by my company) Acer Travelmate 2702LMI and Compaq Presario R3230US

Consider same amount of RAM/HDD (512MB/80G) would be in both.
Keeping in mind that
- i'd be required to keep it for a long time, and
- it does pisses me off by its slow response due to simultaneous apps,
- doesn't give hanging/heating problems
which one would be a better buy?
