XPS Gen 2 Upgrades _ UK PRICES:

This could be helpful when you're bartering and should tell you exactly how much of a saving you're getting from the sales rep.

Here's what I managed to find out
  • Processor upgrade from 2.0Ghz to 2.13GHz = £121
  • RAM upgrade from 512MB to 1024MB = £340 (What!?!?!)
  • Hard disk upgrade from 60GB 5,400 to 60GB 7,200 = £45
  • Warranty upgrade from 1Y NBD to 4Y NBD = £190 (or £150 for 3Y NBD)
  • Bluetooth optional extra = £35
  • LCD cover and 3 colour inserts = £30

Prices aren't too bad except from the Memory upgrade - What the Hell is that all about? I verified this about 5 times with the Dell rep and she was adamant it was the truth, even though the US upgrade costs only $200 - approx. £105!!)

THIS CAN'T BE TRUE - ANYONE GOT A DIFFERENT PRICE FOR 1024MB RAM?

Don't know ho much the DVD writer upgrade is or the Nylon Carry case though - any prices?

You could try 3rd Party upgrades for the RAM, thats what most people are doing...
