6600 and x700 benchmarks?

can anyone point me to benchmarks for these mobile cards? i would like to see which performs better, in the desktops the 6600gt smokes the x700xt and costs less, but it could change for laptops as these are not the same cards. Also say i got the Asus Z71V with 6600, does it use the same pcie slot as say the mobile x800? so i could later upgrade to the mobile x800?

At the moment, upgradeable graphics cards are a work in progress. There are at least 3 issues with upgrading from a Nvidia 6600 to an ATi x800:
1. Nobody's sure if the 6600 in the Z71v is upgradeable (so it probably isn't)
2. even if it was, ATi & Nvidia have different "upgrade interfaces", so I doubt that you'd be able to upgrade from one comany to the other
3. however, if you managed to do it anyway, the x800 is just flat-out bigger than the 6600, and wouldn't fit in the same size slot.

They are also built for different purposes: the x800 is for performance with little else considered. the 6600 is for a balance of performance and portability. If the PCI Express cards are upgradeable, then they will only be able to upgrade to a newer version of the same type of card, due to bigger cards not fitting in the same slot.

Only thing I can say, if you're going for really high end graphics card on a notebook, you're better off getting a desktop. The GeForce Go 6600 is drawing a big part in my notebook's battery life even if I set the settings to lowest. Imagine that if you have a X800, you probably expect to carry a charger with you all the time.

Isn't it a bit hard to get a real comparable graphic card benchmark? I mean let say if you have a system using nVidia GO Geforce 6600, but the processor is a 2.0GB Sonoma vs a ATI X700, but the processor is 1.6 Sonoma.

Wouldn't the processor's speed affect the outcome of the graphic benchmark as well?

i have a high end desktop with a X800XL, im looking for a laptop that has a mobile processor for when i run on battery life, but can also run games when i plug it in, i will only be watching dvd's and using office apps when its on battery life, so the graphics card wont consume all the power.

I"d have to recommend the acer travelmate 8104 or 8103, really great laptop for the money and its only 6.3lbs.

i looked @ the reviews... the cards offer very similar performance, but the x700 beats it slightly
