m6811 Memory Speed

Thread Starter
I made my m6811 memory run at 400MHz instead of 333MHz and undervolted it to 1.3 instead of 1.4 Volts. It is completely prime stable. This is the biggest performance boost I have seen on this thing. Everything loads faster and runs smoother. Should I be worried at all?

No ... I run mine at similar settings frequently.

- how do you do that
- which ram you are using

since you cant change such settings in the bios then i suppose you are using a software, and that means overclocking, is that right?

I use software called A64 tweaker for memory OC. I am using the OEM Samsung 256x2 modules. For undervolting, I use RMClock.

do you think that there are any longer term repercussions to using the tweaker ??? will it shorten your lappy life ???

What exactly did you do in A64Tweaker?

Shorten laptop life? No

Shorten memory life? Probably. If it's cheap RAM then yes if not and it's made to be overclocked then no.

Worth it? IMO, no.

Running anything out of it's intended spec can potentially shorten it's life. Hopefully I will soon be slapping two PC3200 sticks in anyway. Most modules are made with a little overhead anyway. The only reason it would even be worth it to you is if you are running a lot of apps where memory bandwidth is at a premium.

Set memory bus to 200MHz, disabled 2T, changed refresh rate to 200MHz, dropped Trc to 7. That's about all my sticks can handle.

I just made that change on mine, and nothing's insta-crashed. What's a good program to test stability? I just stuck in a 1GB stick of (PC2700) ram from kingmax (yeah, I know...)... hopefully nothing will explode.

It's good to hear you are even booting with the Kingmax stick. Either they have changed something, or the early incompatibility may have been resolved in a later BIOS release

Thats a good news from Kingmax. I was actually being tempted to buy the 1Gig PC3200 module from Kingmax. However, in Newegg, the support voltage for this module is listed as 2.6V, whereas voltage for other modules (including Kingmax PC2700) are generally 2.5V. Can this difference of 0.1V be a problem for my M6805?

Also, Entropius, what machine do you have? what bios? Did you buy the RAM from Newegg?

I have an M6811, not sure on the bios, and yes it's from Newegg.
