Sorry about that KBdrand
Ill be sure to give you a good review of it if I do get it. Oh I hope everything turns out alright.

Maybe if you talk to the support they will give you a discount or help move up your order

They are already 'expiditing' the order and they claim they are going to give me a $100 coupon.

Just re ordered an XPS2 today with this new deal... estimated ship date is April 1st!!??? Wahahaha funny...

My XPS is in the boxing stage, but it still say's April 11th ship prep. Even called and it said the same thing. Is it possible that it will come sooner? Guess I'll just have to wait and see..

I tried to re-order the XPS2 to see if I could get a better deal but the ship date still said April 14th. What specs did you pick to get April 1st?

*sigh* Still in the build stage. My order was expedited as I had to reorder yesterday. Right now, I'm so desperate that I just want SOMEBODY to get their XPS2 so that we can get some reviews (console us on the screen/battery life/noise). That would be enough for me right now.

The tech. I talked to said that none of them were being built yet. He also started saying that the shipping date was just an estimate based on what they thought demand would be(I though he was preparing me for delays), but then said he expected them to ship much sooner , though he wasn't allowed to tell me when he thought that might be.

I think most of the time, talking to dell representative is just a waste of time. They just give you this hope.

Oh my god.

Yesterday I sent an email to Dell asking them why my machine shows as "in production" when I have been told it is on hold due to a shortage of parts. Heres the response I got
Quote:
Sometimes, the systems do begin to build before they realize that there is a shortage on parts. Hence, in production with a backorder. Once there is a backorder, it stop the production line, and whatever system is currently on it. If the system does not begin to build before the backorder, the order will state "pre production".

Your system was in production at our manufacturing facility, and is now placed on a backorder. Our website does not have access to the internal reports on lead times and is not as accurate as our internal programs for tracking the building status.
What is the point of kitting then if you can get halfway through building it and realize you are short? Secondly, yesterday another csr told my I was at the "burn in" or "testing" stage. So, did they run out of software?

Sorry, I was putting your computer together, but before I was done, I couldnt find your motherboard.... Sorry backorder

LOL

I hope that this new 30% off or whatever on the 9300 doesnt cut in the way of my XPS2 being built... That will make thee

Maybe its the
"Personalization Shield w/Inserts [add $29] May delay your Inspiron XPS Gen 2 ship date"
I could see them adding those in the Boxing stage. So your computer could go through the entire build process but get stuck because they dont have some parts to put in the box. That could explain it. Its built and tested but since its missing a part to ship its entered a stated that they dont really have a good name for.

Maybe?
I truely hope that's not it, but that is entirely plausible. I knew that shield was a bad idea.
MAN... I knew it
lol
O well, I just hope when I do get the computer... when i do.... It works perfect, good screen, nothing missing... cause if I have to send it back....dude
post #155 of 327
The fact that the personalization shield is on backorder now should really have no bearing on old orders should it? I mean, it wasn't on backorder when we originally bought it. Same with the 7200RPM Hard Drive. I have my doubts that the personalization shield is what's holding people's orders up. It's probably either video cards, processors, screens, or a combination of the three.

I just called a dell rep throught the EPP and he said all the people that have their systems stuck in the build phase is due to the backorder on pentium 2.0gig processors.

I ordered my laptop on Feb 29th and I think that's total BS that they pick a random order number to build instead of when the order was submitted. I've been routed between dell and aafes reps like 5 times and I'm fed up with trying to get ahold of someone that doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about. I need this damn laptop before I ship next week to Iraq since I'd rather not have 20 different people handle it before it reaches me overseas. Normally I wouldn't give a rat's ass about another week or two, but considering the circumstances, I'm downright pissed off.
When did you order it and what was your estimated shipping date?

Dunno if this has been posted yet but I just got off the phone with an EPP rep. She told me that part number 311-4912 (personalization shield w/inserts) has a 21 day backorder delay and that the monitor itself has a 7 day delay and what was really holding up my order was the personalization shield. She recommended I e-mail my rep. and have her modify my order to make the shield a seperate order from the main one to speed it up - she said that was the main thing that was holding my laptop at the build stage. So if any of you other guys are stuck at build and ordered the shield, you might want to remove it from your main order.
