Hey Everyone,

I just got my new laptop today (purchased online). Everything is awesome and I'm really pleased with it but it has a noise coming from the right speaker. It's making a buzzing/clicking/static beeping sound that starts as soon as the laptop is booted. The noise doesn't increase or decrease when the volume is adjusted. The buzzing/clicking static noise stops once the computer is idle but resumes as soon as I access a program or drive. The beep coincides with a red light that flashes in the Infrared port. If I disable the IrDA Fast Infrared port in device manager the static beep stops but the buzzing/clicking/static noise continues. When the buzzing/clicking/static noise stops all I hear from the speaker is a humming sound (sounds the same as having the volume turned up really loud on your speakers but don't have any music playing) It's like the inner workings of the laptop are being amplified by this speaker. Is there a way to stop this interference from happening? As far as the speaker goes it seems to work fine when playing sound. (aside from the buzzing/clicking/static noise in the back ground) I've contacted Acer support but I thought I would ask and see if anyone else has experienced this problem. It reminds me of the time I installed a stereo in my car and didn't ground it properly which caused the speakers to pick up the engine noise. Once I made a better ground all was well. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

Try muting the line in and microphone ports and fiddling around in the Options/Properties menu in the volume control thing on the bottom right of the windows taskbar. My creative audigy 2 does the same thing and muting the line in helps IMMENSLY.

Hi michnovichno,

Thanks for your response.
I tried your suggestions but the noise doesn't change. I did a little more hunting around and found that this is a known issue and there is a solution.

"There has been a problem on some high performance AMD computers where clients are experiencing RF feedback through the speakers that make a slight hum, whine or squeal. We can correct this noise by replacing the power supplies or changing the internal speakers and CPU fans. All this is covered by our warranty of course." from http://www.aldenassociates.net/ProductInfo/PM0204.htm
