MSI MEGABOOK S270 (smack on centrino's a$$) - Page 2

I say wait and this will become the NEXT Averatec subportable. I will very likely get one also. Give it a X600 and this will be a killer machine.

Good news people, sort of, I received the following email from a website that sells MSI Laptops and hopefully we will be able to get this laptop. Only thing is that I never heard of this store.

We customize all of our laptops, and will do so with the S270. We will also sell barebones
of all MSI models.

Thanks!

I ordered an MSI M510C from them a while ago. They are a great company.

Judging by the latest pic of the MSI 270, it seems the chassis looks better than what was initially thought. I still don't really like the yellowish MSI logo.

it supports turion now, i think it does come i black silver and white, plus barebones, means build you self for cheap, all you have to do is find a place that sells turions, and find a place that ships to the us and you are golden
That is not true. Building a barebone laptop rarely saves you money, and then, maybe only $50.

I dont know. Compare a barebones z71v vs a v6v. I know they arent the exact same, but for roughly the same components the z71v is much cheaper than the v6v. Unless you had some different type of comparison.

What I meant was purchasing the barebone computer, ordering your own customizable parts, and installing them yourself is rarely cheaper.

Just looked at the specs for this notebook... how the phuck does it kick 'Centrinos' ass?! It has 3.5 hours battery life (5 on the other website)... the Asus Z71v in real tested use can get 4.5 hours battery life...

It will kick centrino's ass. Benchmarks show that the chipset and video card used in that laptop are a lot better than intel's. Plus the 64bit plus the new Windows 64bit will help outperform centrino really easy.

And where are you getting these benchmarks? Are you referring to the ones that AMD published?

I'm referring to the Xpress 200M chipset + integrated graphics at AnandTech.com

This is probably one of the best ultraportable notebooks I've ever seen, and the price is really reasonable too!

Just checked Xmeld's website, they don't offer the Megabook S270 yet. The model you're speaking of above sounds like the S250.

It is kind of confusing, MSI first said beginning of april, then mid april, then beginning of may, and everytime I receive an email they gave a different price. Hopefully it will come out on April 14th and cost 1300$ for the full system.

This following website is selling it in France already, and they give you any option you want to configure that lappie. I try to talk to them and ask them to ship them to the USA but never got an answer. If you live in Europe I think this is the site to buy laptops from. I read in a forum that they are like the major laptop distributor in France and Europe.
