7700 realistic shipping times & screen options

Just wondering how well AW is adhering to their stated shipping times? I have been pricing out different configs for a 7700 the last few weeks - still leary on pulling the trigger due to recent negative AW comments - and they are stating a 9 day shipping time frame (2 day processing, 7 day build) for the WXGA+ screen version. Add in the 3 day FedEx travel time and it looks like you should get your lappy within 12 days from order, correct?? Unless you pick the WSXGA+ Clearview screen - then that looks like it adds another 7 days - according to the AW config page, as of today.

I am noticing from the more recent posts from new owners that they waited more like a month or more before they got theirs. Is this because the stated wait times were longer back when they ordered or is it that AW is still not shipping when they say?

I ordered a 5500 early last year and it took about a month for me to get it. Back then that is what the wait time was listed as.

Also, I haven't been able to find a review on a 7700 with a WXGA+ screen vs. one with the WSXGA+ Clearview screen. I'd like to see some real world comparisons between the two. I'd rather not have a glossy screen (reflections are too distracting) and I am wondering if the fonts are too hard to read on the WSXGA+. I have an original iXPS right now with a 15.4" 1920x1200 screen and I find the resolution much too high for my liking.

Thanks in advance for any info you can throw my way!

A lot of the earlier 7700 reviews were based on pre orders and even then, people complained. Knowing that there WILL be delays.

It seems the more recent purchases of the system are rolling out faster now.

I waited a month for mine, PRE ORDER, and yes it was painful...

I've been working on mine for over 2 months now....EVERY DAY! Its a dream come true....Honestly worth the wait......

I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and mine will not ship next week but the week after supposedly. So its gonna be a month + 3 to 5 days to ship. Mine was delayed a week because the nVIDIA DDR3 256Mb card was out of stock for a week. Its a crap shoot, you might get it exactly on time or it may be delayed. AW or any other manufacture makes no claims on the exactness of their estimated ship dates with the key word being estimated. Get your lappy, I have found that most folks receive their orders on time. Your gonna take a chance with almost any company you buy from. Good luck!

I ordered what appears to be the same configuration as this on 02/28/05. I got an e-mail 03/16/05 (the same day he received his) saying my order was at phase 6. I did order the higher resolution screen and he doesn’t say which one he ordered but the rest of his configuration is the same as mine. The estimated ship date when I ordered was 03/23/05 but I don’t hold much hope for that, at least not with as slow as it seems to be going so far.

clearview looks like Sony Xbrite..if that helps...I have a 19" Sony that I use at home with games etc and you cannot tell the diff so if you have never seen a Sony Xbrite then go to Cir City of one of those places and take a look for yourself

Make sure with your countries/area customs department about shipping.

I have just had a hell of a time sorting out a problem with mine - If the value of the items you are receiving are over the value of $1000 then you need to register for an importers code.

Just make sure!

Well, I have m5500 and it was delayed for half a month due to some AW internal communicatin problems. However, I waited it out and am very glad I waited. The machine and customer service has been great. As for the negative comments, there are relatively few that I have seen on NBF, when compared to the amount of 7700s that have shipped.

Also, almost everyone with a 7700 I have seen that has posted recommends spending the cash for the better screen. 7 days wait is nothing, when you look at the screen everyday for the life of the system.
