Omega's Latest - Page 2

Seeing as how I spent $2500 on a laptop, and comparing the performance increase I gain from Omega... that guy deserves every dollar[euro/pound/sterling].

See, I've not tried the latest ATi drivers, but when I first bought my dell 9100, the omega drivers, although one step behind the official ATI releases, outperformed them by about 1000 3dMarks in 3DMark03.

That is one helluva set of "old and tired" drivers IMHO

Just lay off the guy. You sound like just the sort of person he mentions on his page. No contribution to the community, though very quick to judge and and voice non-constructive opinions. I mean, what's he ever done to you? Taken your money? Doubt it. Given you a means of quickly and safely optimising the speed of your laptop. Definitely. Could you do any better? No.

Stop filling this forum with B-S and take your opinions elsewhere.

Cool...Omega probably has helped several noobs out who couldn't get the stock ATI drivers to install or were too clueless to find the right driver themselves. Figure that If he was as great as everyone makes out at reinventing ATI's work, ATI would have put him on the payroll quite a long time ago...my bad!

Err...ATI acknowledges his work man. Moreover are you going to say the same thing about most open source software then? I mean there are a lot of programmers who are not on active payrolls of RedHat and so on but are you going to diss them because they go out of their way to help the community out for free?! That is a great mentality to have man. Not everyone maybe as knowledgeable as you. But we can still learn and appreciate some decent hard work a guy has put in. No need for putting him down or noobs. You were a noob once I am quite sure.

I tried sending him an e-mail at omegadrivers@gmail.com and it bounced back. Anyone else try? I think his drivers are fantastic and wanted to send him an e-mail to let him know that his work is valuable....

You can leave a comment in the PayPal form when you send him a donation

I've donated once before and what's the point of donating again if he claims he's done. I might as well just put the money in the toilet and flush it.

He doesn't claim he's completely done:

Yep I hope ATI hires him as a member of their ATI team. That should make things work for him. I have heard some ATI lead guys praising his efforts before.

mich43L: sorry for sorta jumping the gun on that, I missed that portion of his post. I'll definitely donate again.

Thanks!

I was using Omegas for a while, but while they were faster I had strange artifacting in Sacred (looked like someone had ripped away 15% of the polygons on the characters or something - pretty ugly). Soooo back to the Catalysts I went, which solved the problem.

A lil' update from the Omega Man:

Thanks mich43L. I must say I am really glad that the fans of his work have been able to cheer him up a bit. His work is incredible and there is no machine that I own that does not have his driverset installed on it.
