australian i9300 delay

i got an email from my sales rep today saying my i9300 has been delayed because they are "facing a worldwide constraint for the 256Mb Graphics card". those were her exact words. my ship date is still 28/3/05 though. have any other aussies been informed yet of this i9300 delay?

Didn't get that email, but my shipping date is 29/03/05.
Still in production stage, no Build & Testing date yet.

when did you guys place your order? my order went through 14/3/05. id paid the $ by 9/3/05 though, from a previous cancelled order.

I ordered and paid last Mon (14th), and at first my estimated delivery date was the 28th March.

On the 16th I got an email from the order watch to say my order had been shipped and I could see the shipping details on the Dell site. It had updated my est. arrival date to the 23rd.

However now, it says that the order is still 'In production' but the est. delivery date is still the 23rd, but I can't view the shipping details anymore... so I don't know what's happened!

Ordered 14/3, est d.d. 29/3.

BUT under order status on the website it claims im still in order processing...doesnt make much sense considering i payed with credit card which can go through instantaneously...

didnt get that email tho

and go the swannies...haha bet u cant guess where im from?

Ordered and paid Friday 18th, got my order confirmation this morning which says 10 business days but when I was finalising the order with the sales rep (for a variety of reasons I couldn't check out online) she said up front that it'd be at least mid-April due to the shortage. Strange though, neither my customer number nor order number work on the Dell tracking website yet ...

Really? This is my progress:

O: 14-Mar-2005
B: 16-Mar-2005
E: 22-Mar-2005

My expected shipping date was initially 28th, then 24th, now 22nd (as of today).

That means ill be receiving mine tomorrow (Tuesday).. however, i still havent received a call from Dell.

Did anyone else receive a call from Dell regarding courier delivery??? That would really suck if they called tomorrow and i was at work.. lol... mayb ill call a sickie

Yip.....got the same explanation from my rep......kept annoying her why my order number couldnt be tracked on the site.....ans.......shortage of 6800s.....therefore wouldnt be produced b4 23.3.05.

Youre right....doesnt make sense.....guess all those 9300 orders must have stressed the system....I am still annoying her everyday.......she harassed me no end re the sale.....you buy today.....you buy today......you got your credit card.........so I guess I am just returning the favor......Oh.....did I say....

ordered 16th - my sales rep Amrita says i should get it with in 10days

*shrugs*

never got any email about the shortage of 6800's nor told that the vid cards were on backorders. My order has still yet to go into production tho (from the dell website tracker)

Same position is with me... I ordered the i9300 on 13th march,received confirmation on 16th March. online tracking status is still in production though, and estimated delivery is 30th March.... no change at all..... yeah, i did speak to delivery/customer service (not my sales rep) and the way she replied abt the delay, it seems she was trying to give a pleasing answer for the delay due to shortage of part... n she told me to call my sales rep to confirm wht to do with the delay..... i didn't understand wht she meant by that, but from the reading of some quotes in this forum, sales rep will most likely to assure u abt the delivery date and based on customer's reaction, offer some sort of free gift or priority delivery....... well i will try to be as insane as much as i can be, next time when i contact my sales rep abt the status of my system....

Mine sounds similar. Ordered 14th paid 16th confirmed 17th. Is still in order processing though with ETA 30th still.

PS: Seeing we seem to have most of the Aussie 9300 orders going here, has anyone heard or asked their rep about the XPS2 here? Just out of interest, who would return their 9300 and order the XPS2 if it arrived in the 21 day return period???

My rep said that Dell was not intending to release the XPS2 in Oz....at least not yet.....would I return the 9300 for an XPS......well......Is the pope a catholic.......do italians make good spaghetti westerns......you better believe it.

Had a chat with a Dell representative at the Bondi Junction Dell Direct store here in Sydney ... he says there are probably "a few" people in Australia who would want an XPS Gen 2 but that the demand isn't high enough.

Of course this does beg the question - they're all manufactured in Malaysia and the support is all centralised in India anyway, what is the overhead in Dell bringing them to Australia? An extra model on the website and telling the support people that they may need to get used to the Australian accent?
