What bugs me is the to-ing and fro-ing b/w Dell and the courier company
I don't think that's the case ... Krissy was still at work when the laptop was delivered at home ...

Guys, quick question for those who received... Any ID required or just say, 'yeah, I'm Kobranet (insert real name here), that's for me...

They guy the delivery is coming under doesn't work here anymore, what's the solution... A bit of social engineering? Can't hurt...
Nah, you just need to give your signature and write down your name.
So what companies have delivered the laptops in Sydney so far? Krissy got Bax Global, I got the impression at least one other didn't get theirs from a Bax courier ...

hooray. It is here and i am writing this on it

Delivery guy just delivered it to reception and someone up there signed for it.

First impressions. It is BIG!!! and very pretty

Screen is great, need to get power stirp and check which screen it is. Sparkle is there now i know what to look for but it is decreased by the anit-glare filters on my glasses. It is virtually non existant with my glasses on

No light leak or dead pixles.

Speed is amazing, am currently using photoshop and it is faster than my athlon desktop

Will do a more comprehensive review on the weekend.

If anyone has anyquestions i can try to answer them.

Can;t do benchmarking for anyone right now however since i am at work.

It was my impression that Bax handled the international logistics and then handed off to Toll once on the ground here. I didn't think Bax did any of the actual customer deliveries.

I could be wrong... and often am.
Yeah, Bax handle all of the courier work, but they actually outsource the final delivery to a local courier. Dell gave me the local Bax number and they mentioned that in my case they are using Courier Australia, although my last couple of lappys arrived on TollWest (eventually) so it probably depends on which area you are in as to which courier is used.

Cheers

Still no word from either Dell or Bax or Toll concerning my delivery... Seriously wrong. I think I'll just blow the rest of the afternoon making phone calls and trying desperately to get this thing delivered.

What a waste of time... Anyone have any suggestions?

Got my 9300 - love the screen, haven't noticed any sparkles yet - played some Half Life 2 at 1900 x 1600 max detail and it was locke at 60fps.

Cant ask for more than that - colour me impressed.

Well I called again and this is how it's supposed to go:
Notebook at local courier -> Notebook gets sent back to Dell's warehouse -> Dell receives notebook, schedules another delivery with local courier, sends it off to the local courier again (rep said that there would be an additional charge, but I think the courier charges Dell, not us) -> Notebook arrives at local courier -> local courier calls us to arrange delivery -> we wait...

Sounds really tedious, I doubt that we'll get it by Wednesday... Well, if you make any progress pls post..

Just got 7457 in 3DMark03 with all the Dell bloatware and services still installed and running and non-optimised drivers and settings.

I'm pretty happy with that, should easily be able to squeeze it up to around 9k.

Just got mine today!

Now the bad news ... I think my screen is going back ... it's sparkly but I can sorta live with that ... the problem is the top coating has two bubbles in it! It looks as if someone took a pin and stuck it in the coating (actually, probably more likely, when the coating was being made, a couple of specks of dust fell onto the surface) ... *sigh*

DJ Fusion, mine crank up to 2900-ish on 3DMark05 with stock clock, stock driver,dell-bloatware. Upgrade the driver to 76.10, stock clock, dell-bloatware, then the score is 3200-ish. Very happy with that.

Psinewave, before you return it, could you run powerstrip? i.e. what's your LCD.

OK lemme find powerstrip first!

I just got off the phone to the Dell tech ... the nicest Dell rep I've come across incidentally, restored some of my faith in tech support reps ... he got me to take a photo of the dimples on the screen and send them to him, he had a look and (presumably) showed it to a few other people before giving me the "The screens are like this and if we give you a replacement there's no guarantee it won't be the same" talk (with regard to both the dimples and the sparkles) ... but he did say give it a few days and if it still annoyed me to send him an email and he'd see what he can do ...

Having said that, now that I've used it for a while, the sparkles don't seem as annoying as I thought they would be initially ... we'll see if it starts giving me eyestrain or not ...

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to report quickly that I have now have my new laptop also and everything seems to be fine so far. Quickly ran 3dmark05 and got 2855 literally straight out of the box. Now I will just install everything and get it going the way I want and report back.

Cheers

Thats with the 76.10 drivers and my auto-optimised settings using the nvidia control panel - I think it was about 369/766.
