Yay! Found my way around:
Unscrew the eight or nine screws on the bottom. Remove the battery. Unscrew the monitor hinges. Flip the laptop over, open the monitor up fully (180 degrees) and pop the plastic part between the keyboard and the monitor off. Unscrew the four screws on the keyboard. Remove the keyboard, being sure to not damage the ribbon cable (it'll pull right out before you realize it). There are four screws holding the body to the top of the case. Unscrew those. Unscrew the monitor mounts and don't loose the ground line on the top left. Unhook the monitor, and then lift the top of the case off. You'll have access to the hard drive and dvd-rom then.
There are THREE ribbon cables to make sure you reconnect... there is a small white one towards the back of the motherboard that is kind of a pain to get back in (connects to HDD and CDROM status light daughter board), a fat bronze cable that connects the volume control and mousepad to the motherboard, and the keyboard to motherboard ribbon.
I was able to swap out the hard drive no problem by removing one screw after the thing was opened and pulling the cradle towards me, essentially disconencting the drive's 40 pin male end from the socket directly on the board.
Good luck!

Just saw your post. Toshiba seems to not have support for consumers swapping hard drives on their own, unfortunately, if there isn't just a hard drive bay you can unscrew on the bottom. I looked for days before just giving up and diving in myself. Luckily I was able to use concepts from other laptop dissemblies (sp?) in this forum for help.
