9300 owners: with the samsung replacement kit W9892 - Page 9

The LG was great until I saw my girl friend's 700m over the weekend and compared the glossy screens. I still didn't believe it until I decided to get the Samsung to have comparison. After installing the Samsung, I thought it was much better. I even when to Best Buy right after work and right before the closed at 9pm tonight to check the Xbright and I can say the Samsung and the Sony are comparable and the Sony is indeed better than the LG. Happy?

I really do not even know how to reply to this one.

Okay, I'll try:

Dad talking to son on Christmas morning: "Trust me son, the Atari 2600 is just as good as the XBox."

Hey, let's all gang up on joseyu and force him to stare at an LG-Philips LCD until his eyes bleed!

Hi, I got my replacement screen too.... so far the 'sparkle' effect is reduced just a bit. In short, it is the Y4041 with glossy look, but it did solve my light leakage problem. Well, there are two dark spot at the left side of the screen, so I put some padding at the back of the LCD, it solved the problem Now I am happy with my screen

So does the replacement kit come with replacement rubber screw covers or do you reuse the old ones?

So, are you able to do a side-by-side comparison of the 9200 Samsung WUXGA with the 9300 Samsung WUXGA? I'd love to hear a comparison. If the glossy version is no better than sticking a NuShield thingy on the old Y4014, I'd probably be inclined to stick with the vanilla Y4014.

I Dont have a camera, so I cant post pics for comparison, but they look the smae to me. One thing a bout NUshield is, it will not stay on the screen perfectly. Thus, the glossy screen is the better choice and color looks a lot nicer on the glossy screen too.

I resuse the old one. The replacement just came with the screen and cable to connect the LCD.

I asked the tech that came to install mine about those. They're just adhesive backed and he said if they start falling off, just give a call to Dell and they'll send out new ones, but they should still stick after just taking them off once or twice.

What kind of padding did you use and where did you put it? I have those black spots too and it's bugging me.

So how tough is it to replace the screen? Does it come with instructions?

And how did you go about getting a replacement screen sent to you?
