9300 owners: with the samsung replacement kit W9892 - Page 14

I'm just curious how bad one dead pixel looks in a sea of 2.3 million pixels. Is it obvious, or do you really have to hunt for it?

I hear you all.....
It's not greatest venture to be a part of...
You'd think the replacement would be flawless...
But I suspect they blindly pick stuff from a BIN and send it
without regard to confirmation of it's functionality.
But hey.....if this next one comes....with some issue...
I'll be sticking with the LG.

Ouch, those pixels get mean when they're dead.
That's too bad, Despotes. Is it a LG or Samsung? Go request a replacement kit. It should be a Samsung. YMMV, some people prefer LG though.

I had one on a Dell 4150. It was on the far right side near the middle vertically. I could barely see it. I think it was stuck off. then one day, I noticed it was working again.

I have one, dead center on my 30inch LCD. Took me 3 days to notice it. It's blue, I think, can't even remember. I hardly ever notice it, about once a month or less it shows up.

There is another one on my 19inch LCD, dead center, too. It's stuck green, but if I touch it with my finger tip, it goes away. Before that it's very noticeable.

So some people claim that you can rub the screen to restore the dead or stuck pixel is not a urban legend.

To me it's not an urban legend, because it has worked. However, it doesn't always work. Tried it on my 30inch and it had no effect. I think with the "rub" method, if it's just a bad connection it's a possibility. But if it's burnded out or a physical short, then rubbing won't work.
Usually the rub only works on a stuck pixel to my knowledge. If it's off completely black, it doesn't work.

Oh, you got the WXGA. That explains why the dead pixel poked you in the eye.

just got on the phone with dell gold sevice, they are great. so i ask them if they can leave a note for the tech saying that if am not satisfied with the samsung screen that he has to put back my LG screen and that i would speak to dell on how can we handle he situation should that be the case and the rep said ok and was writing up the note. and then i asked if there should be a problem and they said no he will do it.

dont know about others bashing tech support. i guess the gold support is the elite of all supports . so yea thats my update so far. tech should be in around 9am to 12pm eastern time. i will keep you guys update.

Is the backlighting of the LG really that bad?
It looks like the light isn't evenly distributed on the screen

How bright is the Samsung compared to the LG?
ThDa, for the backlighting, the picture is pretty close to real LCD. It is very uneven on the lighting. That's why the Samsung has a pretty big leakage on the bottom. I still prefer to keep Samsung.
As the brightness, to be honest with you, I did not examine too much on the LG. Since once I saw the uneven screen, I knew I'll return it. From the memory, I'll say they are probably in the same level.

Some have said the LG is brighter, some the Samsung. I found my Samsung to be brighter, not a lot, but noticably so.

You can't really tell unless you compare them side-by-side. I did (on the 9200), and I found the Samsung to be 1.5 settings brighter than the LG. I.e., if I dropped the brightness on the Samsung by one setting and left the LG at max, the Samsung was still brighter than the LG.
