I have a 9860 with the Nvidia 256mb PCIE card, 2gb ram, 3.6g P4 etc, best was available in December 2004. I should be able to get smooth playback of DvD movies. But most times I get pausing like the buffer can't keep up or the drive isn't reading fast enough. Fiddling with the controls hasn't yielded much results save a couple times, which doesn't make sense because the same things didn't help later. It seems random as to when I can get it right and when it lurches like a student driver learning to drive a stick.
Other possibilities I can think of (and have tried but not always work to fix it) are network seeking (disabled cards both LAN & WLAN), mouse/pad conflict (disabled pad).
Anyone else have this problem or a solution? Thank you in advance.
