Sorry for this new poll, but with all the returns and replacement requests going on, it appears that many who were originally satisfied with their screens are now having second thoughts or have noticed the sparkle effect, either by comparing to other systems or by extended use. I'm wondering if there's anyone who hasn't noticed the sparkles at all and is still completely satisfied with their screen. If you were/are satisfied, but are ordering a replacement anyway out of "curiosity", please select "Dissatisfied, replacing", obviously you wouldn't be ordering a replacement if you were fully satisfied and that is what I want to track.

And just as a reminder, the packing list for the notebook is commonly enough incorrect in stating the model number of the LCD, as I understand it. The online invoice and PowerStrip seem to be correct.

Thanks for your participation in this survey.

You're forgetting the most popular option: satisfied, but hey, I'm entitled to two LCDs like everybody else.

What about the "Hurry up and return all the bad LCDs so Dell gets the message and stops using them before my XPS2 is built with one." option.

I predict I'll be one that sees Sparklies but says its not bad enough to return it.

Umm, yeah, they sure got the message after all the 9200 returns. But apparently they interpreted the message to be "we would like our lumpy turnips with sugar on top, please."

The LG i got it has sparkle. I would bet all the LG people have sparkle, some people just probably dont notice it. I bet the samsung has it too, just hopefully not as much. The sparkles are really near nothing. The sparkles are only a pixel wide, even if your doing graphics work and ur working with pixel level editing or design, your goinig to be zoomed in.

I am satisfied with the LG screen. I'm not happy that it sparkles (like my sister was, she was like wow that makes it looks pretty), but they dont render the screen useless. I am am actually requesting the replacement samsung model based on the light leak i have on my screen. If it has less sparkles too, great; if it doesn't have less no big deal. They arn't that big of an issue.

I'd like those people to select "Dissatisfied"

I don't blame them, really. I badly wanted to be satisfied with my screen. And even when I noticed the issue, I really tried to see if I could be satisfied with it. If I hadn't had so much experience with so many different notebooks and didn't have a Sony right on hand to compare to (and I spent several hours Sat and Sun going back and forth between the 2), and didn't have to work on my notebook 8 hours a day, I can see feeling satisfied at first and then taking a second, more scrutinizing look after hearing about many other dissatisfied users how apparently had the same screen.

Well I have no issues with my LG screen. Compared to the 9200 this is like heaven. I do notice a slight sparkle but nothing close to the 9200. That thing gave me a headache. also the colors are much more vibrant and it does not have that gross washed out effect my 9200 had.

I am sorry that others have had such bad issues with it. Though quite a few people just seem to be trying to get a different screen for the heck of it to get the Samsung. I am afraid they will find it is like Delbert has already said: it is a crap shoot to get that screen. I do wish you guys well as I know this is an important purchase and you should get your perceived money's worth. So go get 'em and good luck

Well I hope everything works out. As for me this lappy absolutely rocks and will be my constant companion for the next 3 years...

Agreed with Operaman, My LG has a greasy look to it on whites but I've gotten to used to it...and I can live with it...I have a sony Xbrite as well (desktop monitor) and this LG is on par with it in terms of color...overall very satisfied with the WUXGA and will probably not be considering the Samsung replacement kit...too much of a hassle.

OK, one member will return or replace the Samsung screen. Any reason? Or misclick?

There aren't that many data points, but one could interpret the data as 25% of Samsung owners are dissatisfied, and 50% of LG owners are dissatisfied.

I should have turned on the feature to show who voted what so we could harrass the people who vote differently than ourselves.

I think it's pretty obvious that all the LGs have the same sparkle feature, though some do not consider it so. I'm still unclear if all the Samsung's do as well, though it seems to be that way.
