WUXGA Screen on the i9300s

Hey guys,

I have been looking at laptops for months, and really like the features the i9300 includes. I am a little scared of ordering the unit however, due to the somewhat bad reviews on light leakage, and the sparkling effect. Aside from this being a gaming notebook for myself, its MAIN purpose was to be for college.

How common is it to recieve a unit with dead pixels/light leakage/sparkling effect with the new WUXGA screens from Dell?

I'm in the same boat as you are...

What are you guys afraid of? There's a 21 day return period. Just send it back if you don't like it. The only thing you have to fear is the 30 days or so it will take Dell to credit your account for the return.

Not so much afraid of a bad unite because I know I can return it, but I dont want to deal with the hassle of waiting for another one. I want to deal with Dell, because I like their warranties, I like their 9300. I have read numerous reviews of people with bad problems, long waits, and I can wait at least once. Having another built could double or triple my wait time. Anyways, Im just getting some facts straight before I purchase, I am really looking forward to hopefully ordering a i9300 tonight!

your likely to have the same screen that everyone else is getting, with a little sparkle effect. you will love it (wow that looks cool), not care (huh i didn't even notice till u pointed it out), or hate it (omg epilepsy attack every time i move my head).

I was in the middle, didn't care, wouldn't have noticed if not for the forums here. Keep in mind i'm very picky when it comes to laptops too, i've return 4 different laptops for light leak, screen clarity, etc (three dells and a sager). I'm keeping this one.

What I'm thinking is I dont konw what to do... I can either get a pretty nice 9300 (2ghz, 6800) or a pretty nice self-made desktop( 4000+, 6800 GT, ect.) I'm in a pickel and the screen issue really doesnt help

Well, I took the plunge, I am going to update my specs through my sig, I WILL be doing word processing for college, so I hope this sparkling effect isnt too bad.
