9300 (6800) and World of Warcraft

I have a question with anyone with a 9300 and a GeForce 6800 video card.

How is the performance with World of Warcraft at the native and non native resolutions. Will the 9300 with 2GB of RAM play better than my Athlon XP 2400 with a Geforce FX5600 and 512MB DDR400?

I'm assuming it will by a long shot, but I thought I would ask. Thanks.

Also, Can I order my laptop without a DVD burner and add one later from dell?

Thanks.

I'm sure the 9300 will be solid playing WoW, because my 9100 with 1GB of RAM and the ATI 9700 plays it awesome with almost everything on high and the res at 1680x1050.

The 6800 in the i9300 will be a whole new world of performance compared to that GeForce FX5600. I'm guessing it will run WoW at 1920x1200 twice as fast as whatever you're running your athlon config at. I don't think 2GB is necessary at all, especially for $500 more or however much it costs, I went with 1GB in my XPS 2. In any event, the i9300 will kick your athlon's butt.

Well I'm ordering the 2GB ram not from dell, from new egg when it comes in stock.

What about replacing the CD/DVD Rom with a DVD burner from dell after I have the laptop?

World of Warcraft plays perfectly on my 9300 with 1gb of ram. Games spends too much time accessing HD if you only have 512mb so I'm sure you'll see a big difference. Haven't heard of any real performance gains between 1gb and 2gb however.

Yah, this video card plays it flawlessly. You can run it at 1920x1200 with all gfx options enabled, dont worry- i'm playing as we speak =)

Yes you can t install a optical drive after you have bought your laptop, and you can get it form Dell (more money) or an aftermarket such as newegg.
