Slow down in games ?? Stutters in WOW and Counterstrike - Page 2

I had that same problem plasmashot, it kept rebooting randomly, just before its final reboot that came along with a low pitched whine and no activity. Thats when i had to send it to depot. The best part is that I was on the phone with customer support trying to resolve the reboot issue when this happened!

But back at the topic at hand. I have an audigy 2zs PCMCIA card that i tried as well that gets the same results. I really dont think its a sound card issue. As i mentioned before, this is the 2nd motherboard ive gone through that produces the SAME results. The first mobo I had was an older revision board that had ZERO defects for several months, up until a week or so before my mobo fried. Sent it to depot, replaced my mobo, sent it back, and the SAME exact problem for the 2nd mobo. Just in my personal opinion, im leaning more towards a power distribution problem. Considering the only time I get the problems is when more power is supplied or removed from my fan. But in the same token, im not even sure if anyone else has noticed the fan causing the problems, or perhaps that my problem is something different producing the same problems as others.

Read this post.... I just had a ton of problems and fixed them. If your battery isnt fully charged, it will draw power from your video card and cause a slow down... also you could have latency, however mild, from a XP utility that interferes with your wireless connection... drop the battery and turn the wireless zero config utility off.

Hi, well needless to say my notebook is on its way back to meet its maker to be fixed. From my extensive research I have came to this conclusion. It will be interesting to see if this is right or not. One thing that I would like to ask is if this is only happening on GeForce GPU's or is it on the ATI's also. My understanding is that Valve did not make there game for the Nvidia Go cards but more closely toward the ATI cards as my desktop runs so much better with the ATI for there games. Plus Valve is working on updating there software and drivers to support the Nvidia cards better. Plus I wonder if you play CS online does it matter if its a Unix based or Windows based server is where your problems are. As for WOW and BF1942 these games were also designed for the ATI chipsets mostly. Also Nvidia GeForce 6800 DDR2(first cards) were fabed in the hudson valley area of NY state by IBM and from my understanding is that about 40% or more of the GPU's out of that fab center are faulty so now there coming from somewhere else and/or they are only issuing DDR3 cards. Basically most of the problems seem to be that the software most of us is trying to use is not 100% compatiable with the Nvidia Go GPU's at this time. But oddly I am sure we will start seeing problems with the ATI cards also under certain applications. Basically the issue is faulty 6800 DDR2 cards, compatibility issues with software, and bad drivers. Honestly I can only use the base drivers from the Nvidia website only. I can not use forceware or any other drivers IE Alienware ETC and have my notebook not crash. Like I said I am going to try and talk them into puttting a ATI card in instead of a Nvidia card and see if that works. I am sure most of us that has been around awhile know this was very common problem years ago with desktop cards not working on all the games, applications we want to use and we were upset back then also. They are getting better but not there yet. I will suggest if you do alot of high end gaming get the ATI card at the moment, if not any card will help. Sorry for the long post but as I said at the beginning this is solely from my reading and research only. Have a great day everyone.
