DVD burner after shipment

I have a question about the 9300.

I didn't have the money right off the bat to get a DVD burner but I would really like to get one for the laptop. My question is, can I buy one and install it after my laptop ships?

I know I'll have to get it from dell, but I was just curious.

Who told you that you must get one from Dell?

I didn't know that those modular bay DVD/RW's were like a universal standard or anything like that

Will replacing this void my warranty?

I would pay the $20 or so extra and buy it from Dell Spare Parts. The problem with buying from Newegg is that you don't get the correct bezel (i.e. the face plate with the eject button) to match your system. You can't just replace the faceplate with the one on the drive your system will ship with, as the eject button placement is nearly always different depending on the drive (i.e. a few mm to the left or right etc...). It doesn't void your warranty to replace the drive though. It just pops out in 2 seconds flat!
