itunes problem

i tried to download the new version of itunes because in the next few weeks i'll be buying an ipod. i figured i'd start getting use to how itunes works and i would re-rip my cd collection using the AAC format.

initially the download would prompt me saying the server connection was reset. after a few times the download was complete but the program would lock up.

i'm trying to install this on my desktop running xp pro with sp2, using zone alarm firewall and avast home antivirus

I think this is the wrong forum but here's my suggestion anyway - use a download manager like FlashGet or DAP. Sounds to me like your download is corrupted (if I'm reading your post right) unless it's installing then locking up, in which case I don't know what's wrong.

Also, you don't need to re-rip your CD collection into AAC - iTunes and iPod handle mp3 fine.

perhaps your installation was corrupted. i have never had a problem with itunes on my dell (keeping it real to the forum).

and since the 700m has firewire port, i can use my 700m without an adapter with my ipod which is very nice indeed.

i run zone alarm but also norton's av, so i don't think that is the problem.

i'd uninstall and reinstall again.

Check out the itunes forums...I saw a bunch of posts about the newest version and problems with installing/running it.
I didn't have a problem with it when I loaded it on to my 9300. My problem was that I was trying to save them all to a CD (as data) like Apple suggests from my old computer and it would start working and then it would stop with an unknown error. I've only been able to move 2/3 of my songs...ugh.

I've used Itunes on my 9200 with my Ipod and had no probs transferring songs....the problem I do have is that the firewire port won't charge my ipod......is there any way of changing this?

NYdog, which Ipod are you getting?
