new ferrari speculations -- what do you think it will feature?

Here's my wish list...

1gb DDR400
SXGA or WSXGA+
Turion 64 of course
X700 128mb (or may they include 256mb?)
DVI (Well, the previous ferrari's didn't have dvi, but once can hope...)
Bluetooth (pretty much guaranteed)
No clue on the hard drive... I'm HOPING SATA, so it will support the new seagate 7200.1 notebook drives 100gb 7200rpm baby!
As thin and light as the previous models, perhaps lighter!

Now for the crazy hopes...
a 15.4" widescreen WSXGA+ with crystalbrite or whatever acer calls their glossy screens
A glossy black finish? Red's just a little too flashy for me.
Available next month (ok, least likely of all my hopes, but hey, I need a laptop soon

I'd probably have to take another job to pay for it if those were the specs though... But I'd do it!

What do you think they'll do for the new ferrari?

Turion 64
I think they are going to put WSXGA+ on it.
512 MB DDR400 Ram (Dont think they are going to put a gb on it)
Dont know about all the ports.

And what about the GFX?. Although the X700 is powerfull, it cant handle all the present games in a native (WSXGA+) solution, if you turn on some goddies. So perhaps they are going to put the Geforce Go 6600 Ultra on it. Although this consumes more power, it will still fit into the thin and light categori.

6600 ultra? When'd that come out? You mean the 6800 Ultra? When did dell loose exclusive rights to that chip? Wha?

No i mean the Geforce Go 6600 Ultra.

They have it on their graph on the gamespot preview of the 6600

I doubt that this card actually exist but it would be nice.

Acer already has a Turion and x700 notebook in the works, Aspire 5020. Why would they make another notebook with the same specs in just a red Ferrari case?
The orignal ferrari was basically just a painted TM8000 w/ an AMD processor instead of a Pentium M. It's not out of the question for Acer to have a model very similar w/ the 5020. My bet is that the new Ferrari will use the case from the TM 8100 w/ red accents (similar to how they used the case from the TM 8000 for the orignal Ferrari) or the case from 5000 series, since it's thinner. In any case, my bet is that we've already seen the case they're going to use in the new Ferrari, just not painted red.

This is my hope(if they do this I will buy one as soon as it comes out)
Same case as the 5000 and 8100 series only the signature red
Turion 64 of course
1gb DDR400
100 gig 7200 RPM
15.4" WSGA+ with a glossy surface
WIFI and Bluetooth
not all the USB on the right side like on the 8100
and the GeForce 6800 regular
Oh and Arctic Silver 5 on the CPU and GPU

my guess

seeming acer ferrari has been about portability and power i would definitly say they will be packing an ATI X700 in there, i mean i would like to see an X800 in there but doubt they want to beefen up the ferrari range and add on a good couple pounds to the weight...

so in other words my bet is a re-specced f3200-3400 .... just with upgraded acer crystal brite screen, graphics, amd turion cpu, 3-4.5 hours batt life and a funky new designed mouse... which would be pretty good... mean if X700 is like a 9800 that would be perfect for games these days and games in the coming months... look at the good old 9700... works a treat still and copes with all games right now.... so yea my guess

i want this ferrari so bad... m

problem is, i cant wait much longer for it to come out. ive held off from jan/feb up to now and it's killing me to hold of any longer. i come on here every day checking to see signs of life but nothing....

a black ferrari with widescreen would be nice... dont really care as im 99% certain im getting one, that's if it comes out in the next 2/3 months max.

any news?

We'd better hear something from SOMEBODY, acer or not, next week during the official launch, if it is still occurring. We were all waiting for that magic april 15th or 18th or whatever date for the release, and then came the press releases and news about the acer 5000 series and the new fujitsu-siemens notebooks, so It's been rather quiet lately.

When was the official launch for the new Ferrari?
There isn't an official date for the next Ferrari's launch. Joeld100 is refering to the launch of the Turion (April 18th). Acer said a while back that they were interested in the development of the Turion and planned to put it in the next Ferrari. Other than that we're completely in the dark.
