I just received my I6000 and I am so tempted to order a 9300 to go along with it!
Dell's Price is $250 for 1 GB, well it was when I ordered. I couldn't justify the Six Dollars

Judging from the porduction status gathered here at the forum since 9300's release, not sure when it will get shipped exactly.
Go configure and play around with the numbers, at least that is free.
Have fun.
Am I worng? Didn't the price have to be over $1999 for the $750 coupon to work. If so, there is a very small window where the $750 is better. Also 750 is 750. With 35% you can pile on the features and know your getting a discount on them whether it is a better screen, more memory, whatever. So remember when your looking at the price of that extra stick of memory or better OS don't forget to figure in the discount. I saved over $1100. Also a don't know about the new coupon but the first one had to be used through Small Business not Home.

My 9300 is out for delivery. I'm waiting for my wife to call. All you who are still waiting, be encouraged, I won't forget your pain

No, some screens suck. Its luck of the draw. If you look at the thread about it most people are actually satisified with the screen. Even with screens they believe other people would classify as the sucky one.
If you do get a bad one then you can return it within 21 days or have someone come out and replace it.

What you have to decide yourself: Is $2194 for an insanly cool laptop worth a little hassle IF you happen to get a bad screen. Can you get a better laptop from someone else for a price that is better? What price do you put on Hassles?

Well I called Dell Customer Svc. and told them I could buy the same exact 9300 in my sig for $303.97 less than the $24xx i paid for it if I used the 35% online coupon code M0KWBXGM6WXFFS for Dell home.

Well after getting put through to the return manager, I gave her the coupon code and she asked if a $300.00 credit would be ok . I said fine. She gave me the DPS# and said it will be credited. Took about 10 minutes.

DO2Girls

I see you went with the 80GB HD vs. the 60 on your XPS. Are those the same as on the 9300, and if so will the 80 be that much slower? I need room, but everyone is saying the 80 or 100 are too slow... What were your deciding thoughts on it.

BTW I think my 9300 will be ordered before this day ends

What did you get, just out of curiosity?

I just ordered one with this coupon for $2245 (less a $100 rebate on 4 years) makes it $2145. (no sales tax or shipping either )

Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M 760 Processor (2GHz/533MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+ Display
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
40GB Hard Drive (**I have a 100GB 5400rpm to put into it)
Spare AC adapter (Power Cord) - 90w (Why not - for $19 extra)
Windows® XP Professional (Again, only $51 extra with 35% off)
CD/DVD Drives 8x CD/DVD burner
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps)
Primary Battery 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (53 WHr)
Dell Nylon Deluxe Carrying Cas
4Yr Ltd Warranty,At-Home Srvc + Nights and Weekend
CompleteCare Accidental Damage - 4Yr Lim Warranty
Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal
Additional Battery 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery (80 WHr) (Sell the 6 cell and keep the 9 cell )

(I had ordered one yesterday for $1665 with the $750 coupon, but with no warranty, 256MB RAM, and a 1.86ghz CPU, and no extra AC adapter.) So, using this coupon, for $481 bucks extra (after rebate), I got 4 years of warranty + CompleteCare (and I'm prone to dropping stuff, as my wife will testify ), a 2.0ghz CPU, the extra AC adapter, and the 1GB of RAM I was going to buy from Crucial anyway.

Not too bad!!! Now I just hope I can stand the size. I have an 8600 right now.

Thanks for posting this coupon!!!!

Its more now as I have brought it back up to what I had planned on spendingLOL! But I also now have more:
Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M 760 Processor (2GHz/533MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+ Display
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
80GB Hard Drive
Spare AC adapter (Power Cord)
DC adapter
Windows® Media
TV Card
CD/DVD Drives 8x CD/DVD burner
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps)
Primary Battery 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
I am going to get this case:http://www.tekstyl.com/ccp51/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi
4Yr Ltd Warranty,At-Home Srvc + Nights and Weekend

How do you feel about the Hard drives, and speed? Are both the 80 and 100 5400?
This is probably the best deal they will have until they start dropping base prices. If you are going for the 3 year onsite warranty with complete care, the small business deal from 2 weeks ago was better because it also included a $130 rebate with a similar before rebate price. But at dell home, the price of DVDRW upgrade is cheaper than it was at small business 2 weeks ago, plus you have the option of choosing media center. But for a non-warranty maxed out laptop, this is a great deal.

Unless they changed anything, the 80Gb is 5400, the 100Gb is 4200.
The 'Help Me Choose / Learn More' link from the configuration page shows all hard drives at 4200RPM except for the 60GB 7200RPM.

I would have a 80GB in my configuration if it were 5400RPM.

Those are nice cases. Haven't seen them before. Might have to check them out. I would suggest getting CompleteCare if you can with the 4 year warranty, as its only $77.35 more with the discount and will last all four years.

I have used a 60GB 7200rpm and the 100GB 5400rpm in my current Inspiron 8600. I can say, that other than initial loading of Windows, and WoW and such, I notice no real slow downs, and I really like the extra space of the 100GB. I added a Seagate Momentus 100GB, not the one Dell sells, which is 4200rpm.

#3 Its slower spin rate saves battery life. (perk)
#4 I heard that the 7200 60Gb drive is noisy (although it will be muffled by the jet engines cooling the 6800 ultra)
#5 I heard its not much slower than the 60Gb 7200 since its a higher density.

Even if some of these intentions are missguided there are enought to out way the decision.

Agreed. Having had orders with 80Gb and 100Gb. The 80Gb were both 5400 and the 100Gb was 4200. However the sales reps have exactly Zero idea about this, They read what your read on-line which does not give the specs.
Ya I have added the Complete cars, a blue snap on, and a wireless mouse since my last post
post #37 of 75
So 80 is 5400, I think I will go with it Thanks!

Yeah, don't pay attention to that. Here is what they have when you look for the "parts for your dell":

40Gb 5400
60Gb 5400 and 7200
80Gb 5400
100Gb 4200

I agree. And actually once you factor in the 35% off coupon it sounds like DELL's memory becomes the clear winner. And then you don't have to worry about the warranty being split between the memory vendor (for the memory) and evenrything else from DELL.

Are your sure those drives are the ones they are putting into new machines? The 'Parts for your Dell' area is for replacement/upgrade parts, not a guide to what is being offered for new systems. You may be right that these are what they are putting in the new units, but I wouldn't assume so without double checking first.
