When you are doing your price comparisons remember to add the 35% coupon.

the 80Gb drive is a $59 which equals $38.35 after 35% off.
or
the 60Gb drive is a $29 which equals $18.85 after 35% off.

that 20Gb more for $18
or 40Gb more for $38.

I called dell to try and get the 35% applied to my order. They say the ONLY way to do this is by stopping my current order and reordering. This would put my ship date almost two weeks back!

I need my computer by april 3ed because I leave the country for Japan. I have called twice and got the same bullshit.

They say they cannot simply take the 200 bucks off the price.

I got the same thing last night when I was checking on an order. Thought about cancleing to get an earlier ship date. Mine is boxing now though, so I figure it will ship before the estimate of the 4th.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Dell and received the same response. I cancelled and re-ordered. My original order was placed on March 10 with a ship date of March 28. My new order placed today is scheduled for shipping on April 1. Only a few days difference for a savings of a few hundred dollars.

Also my new invoice shows a 5400 rpm 100 gb drive. It is a different part number from my first order... so I am hoping they have upgraded the drives.

That is true. They cannot take 200 off the price of one order because that would change the order.
But they CAN give you a 200 credit as a separate item.
Its possible that the CSR you spoke with did not know this or did not consider this as an option.
As stated before they are not the brightest bulb in the silverware drawer.

Just for reference - those of you who got an invoice with the 100gb 5400rpm, what is your part number? I just revised my order, 'cause I figure $130 for that drive isn't bad, and that way its covered under the warranty.

The part number for my 100gb drive is 341-2184.

I just got off the phone, and guess what! Now they have the 5400LOL! I asked to change my order, and guess what! It added 5 days to it! Go figure ! I ordered it about two hours ago, changed the HD and that added five days If I didn't think it was going to take a month to begin with I would be pretty pissed. BTW he was a dick! And the lady that I asked to begin with (4200 vs. 5400, who told me 4200) was also snotty. Mind you I am shooting sorry, and thank yous all over the place...

But in the end I go with abxzone w/ the warranty issue

Maybe its all just a warm up for when I have to get the screen fixeed

If you have them cancel your original order and start a new one that 5 days should disappear. I called to change my video card on Saturday and they added the standard 5 days. Then I cancelled that order and placed a new one and the estimated ship date was inline with what it said online. Unfortunatly the 60GB 7200 started causing 3 day delays in the meantime so it was a new two day savings. My current ship date is the 4th. I'm going to cancel AGAIN and reorder with the 35% off, more memory, better warranty, maybe better processor speed, 80GB thanks to 5400RPM and other advice, blah blah blah. The ship date should drop to the first like yours.

BTW - How did you finally config your system? It's amazing how easy it is to read this forum and second guess every decision.

For anyone who is interested, I also had an experience where I had purchased a 9300 that already arrived at my house and I was upset when I saw the new coupon come out for 35% off. Called Dell, told them I didn't want to have to return my new computer just to order the same thing for a couple hundred dollar difference and asked if we could work something out. Of course, they said yes and promptly gave my credit card a nice little credit for the difference in the price between the two identical systems. So, I saved a couple hundred dollars with a 15 minute phone call. Just thought that some of you out there with an already purchased (and delivered) system that is still within your 21 day return period might want to know that this is an option for you.

Cheers,

Oh man, I hope not! My invoice now says 100GB, 5.4K, same part number as above, so that's a good sign! I'll be happy. I'm sure I can sell the 100GB 5400rpm drive I've got now, and this way, the new one is covered under all the warranties...

My shipping date is currently 4/1/05, so now we wait
