As stated above, tried that. They also told me on the phone that I could go ahead and post my story and tell anyone I wanted, and that is MY right. I am hoping to get contacted about this issue early next week though, as I understand the holidays slow things down. If not, that is what review sites and forums are for.

That was a quick remedy, wish my situation was that easy. (Yes, I know it was meant to be sarcastic).

I don't understand how this works. When you go to a store like Best Buy or whatever and buy something with a rebate, the manufacturer has no idea you bought the product. You're like an anonymous buyer to them. So one of the things you have to do is send in an invoice so they know you actually bought the item you are getting a rebate on.

But when you buy an Alienware computer you are buying it directly from the manufacturer and you are definitely not anonymous. They *know* you have bought the computer. Your name is on file, your invoice is on file, etc. So if the invoice wasn't sent in, why don't they just look up your name and see if you bought the computer? I don't get it.

Krew, the problem is they, like many other companies, are looking for a reason NOT to pay instead of a reason TO pay. When you drag the time period out to six months,
you're not in any hurry to give back the money.

Sorry, I was being a smartass. $500.00 is a lot of money and nothing to joke about. There are a couple of posts over in desktop section about the rebates.

I am not the "Commish" as you put it; I am weary buyer when it comes to putting hard-earned money into something. As for getting something more dummy proof, I may just build a new PC myself that way I know what I am getting myself into. I have read a lot of reviews on many sites, resellerratings for one that has stated this very problem. I understand that things happen, but it comes down to business. If a company can screw someone out of a rebate, they will especially one for $500.

Oh okay, I get it. If you're a huge billion $ corporation or something that might make sense. But if you're a computer company selling really expensive computers and one of the few things that makes you different from the competition is customer service.... that seems like it would be a really stupid thing to do. Hopefully AW is above that and will clear up the rebate issues.

He he, wlecome to the Alienware forums. You just got the dummy treatment, usually you are accused of not being able to afford one too if you express any doubts about the company. Sigh.

Hey I said I wouldnt post anymore on here...I am fully complying with the requests of the mods...but I will not be accused of being some 2nd forum name. I did NOT post this complaint or any response in it. I have more respect for Craig than that. Do not use me as an excuse for someone who didnt get the $500 promised. Im on Dell forum now and I wont be back here fulltime until I have my own alienware. Thanks.

I could afford one, I can really afford anything I want. That is what credit is around for.

Well said. This is not Rocket Science.

Alienware needs a special 'X-file' department to quickly handle these uniique problems.

And that will be never as you will never spring for something like that..I do not believe for 1 minute you even have a XPS..and if you could find a way back here to flame AW in whoever's name..you would be childish enough to do so...you have been telling us about your XPS..post the pics in the Dell forum then, until then, your just a Dell fanboy who wants an XPS and are no longer worth the effort to respond to...as said, good by little boy

So you come here and your first post is about a company you have never bought a thing from, obviously not read the numerous threads about the AW owners without a problem or taken the time to read that AW reps actually are members and solve the vast majority of these issues, when asked to do so. Your money is no more hard earned than anyone else's but it seems very strange that your first comment is about a rebate that you have no other knowledge of and if resellerrateings is where you get your info from then you are in for a real shock when you order from who ever...do you think all those posts are legit? Even half? If that was true then many companies would never sell a thing...your best bet would have been to read a few posts about how AW does stand by its customers..these are easily the exception and if you think AW is trying to screw someone out of $500...you need to think again as they sell thouslands of rigs a month and if a rebate form gets lost or is not filled out properly then I have no doubt AW will work with the owner...that $500 is not going to make a bit of difference...your correct about building one...that way when or if you have a problem or some software is not compatible or you need a driver update..you will be right there to slove it and thus you will be happy...and not waiting for that rebate you think you won't get..

Can't find your pics....

Can you please provide the link to the thread where pics of your alienware are located? Thank you.

It is well known that the Rebate process is made to offer the customer an incentive to buy, all the while the redemption process is difficult. That way some people will get their rebates because they followed the procedure to a tea, and some will lose out. Meanwhile the extra money is hanging around in a bank somewhere aquiring interest. I am guessing that Alieware contracts out their rebates as well. IMHO the rebate process any company puts forth is borderline scam. The fact that they are hoping you don't redeem it, or fill out the paperwork correctly should make anyone leary.
Usually Alienware takes care of these issues, I have seen them credit accounts and satisfy rebate issues. Hopefully this will work out.

PS: Welcome back Commish...

Who is this commish? whats his deal?
His deal is the 40% dell coupon he will anally inject into your soul.
The Commish was quite a character...

No matter what you posted, somehow in his reply you would be told that his Dell was quicker, had better components, worked faster, had less problems, had a better motherboard, more memory, never went back for repairs, always had like 12 apps running plus burning dvd's and c's while playing Battlefied 1942 at 3300x2400 with full AA and AF, and cost much less than our machines, which admittedly looked good but couldn't perform as well as his and had less bang for the buck.

And on top of all that, we never ONCE saw his machine...and the best part was he got tired of us taking shots at him so he wote this retirement speech and said how he was never coming back...guess what? He was back within days.
