Dell 9300 sparkly problem with the NON UXGA display

Thread Starter
I am looking into seriously buying the 9300 but with the 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+ Display. The specs are 2 GHz PM, 1 GB of RAM, 265 MB Nvidia 6800 and 60GB 7200 hd. Anyway, I am concerned about the screen and the dreaded sparkly problem. Has anyone gotten the screen mentioned above and had problems with it?

I have some discounts applied that are going to expire and they make the 9300 in my budget. I was also considering the i6000 with almost the same specs (would buy 60 GB 7200 hd from somewhere else since they don't offer it anymore) with the main difference being the lesser ATI x300 with 128 MB. It seems that card is just OK. I can live with a 15 inch screen if I found a notebook with the above specs and the good video card.

Any input is appreciated....

Thanks,
Dawn

You'll probably want to post this in the Dell forums- you'll probably find some people that have this laptop there.

From what I've been reading, the UXGA with the reflective "clear" screen is the one with sparkle. The WXGA screens are standard non-reflective matte finish either by Samsung or LG.

But go the the Dell centrino board and look around, there's plenty posted that may help you, or post a request/survey and get feedback from owners.

There's been no report of "Sparkly" on the WXGA+.

Sparkly is where you see a grid pattern on your screen. You see the lines criss crossing. It's really ugly.
