Seems to me there were quite a few people wondering how to remap these keys WHILE having ACER's eLaunch Manager installed, myself included. I'm happy to report that I have successfully managed to do just that and now have the Euro Key remapped to Web Back and the dollar sign mapped to Web Forward. How do I do it? For the short version, skip the next paragraph...if you're a n3rd and are curious, go ahead and read it
Normally, each key on the KB generates a scancode which windows interprets and spits out as a character. With a little registry hacking it is quite easy to change the function of a particular key. However, Acer/Quanta/Dritek KB Drivers seem to have "hijacked" the function of those keys by remapping them to their own customized codes - codes which Windows doesn't even seem to pick up on. So this entailed either remapping the new codes to the wanted key somehow, (which I tried and didn't work), or to disable the initial mapping of the key by the drivers! And this is exactly how I managed to do it.
Step 1: Grab the Launcher Manager from Acer's site, (or off the CD) and locate the file MMKEYBD.cfg in the LaunMGR folder.
Step 2: Create a copy of MMKEYBD.cfg, (for reference purposes...or as backup). Right click on MMKEYBD.cfg and select properties. UNCHECK the read-only file attribute.
Step 3: Open MMKEYBD.cfg in Wordpad or Notepad. Oooo...look at all those keys!!! Comment out Key 18 and Key 19 with a SEMI-COLON in front of those lines. (Might as well do it in both the Win9x and WinNT section.) It should now look like this:
;Key 18 = 1,E0,33,E0,6A,F508,Euro Symbol
;Key 19 = 1,E0,34,E0,69,F509,Money Symbol
Step 4: Go ahead and save the file. Now reinstall the LaunchManager and reboot.
Step 5: I know what you're thinking...my keys don't do anything now!!! WTF? Well, actually, they produce standard scancodes, which means that now, with a little registry tweaking, you can map the keys to anything you want. Sounds hard? Don't worry, lots of people out there have software already developed for this express purpose. YAY!!!!
Step 6: Head over to http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/ and grab his program, Keytweak. Or head over here, http://www.randyrants.com/sharpkeys/ , and grab sharpkeys. It doesn't matter which you get. Both do the same thing.
Step 7: Now, if you're using Keytweak, click the Half Teach Mode button at the bottom, hit the scan code button on the popup window, and hit the euro key. Now, select the key from the drop down list. Click Ok. Repeat Step 7 for the Dollar key. Easy huh? Click Apply. Reboot! All done!
Fun fun...oh, you can also change the color/font/size of the On Screen Display. Check on my webspace for instructions for that:

I wanna tweak my other ACER apps too!!! I managed to tweak my ePowerManagement Settings as well, (the default ones) from the registry since the default ones weren't saving bluetooth states/wireless states etc. (at least they weren't on mine.)
