Will I void my warranty?

There is an a area beneath my latop that has a hatch covering it(same ones as the memory and the hdd) with just a single screw holding it in. From what I've read, it says that opening it will void the warranty and it is therefore sealed. The thing is, I dont see any seals(normally would be a sticker for my older laptop) and I think its pretty important(because there is where the fan and heatsink is) That I do something in future for cleaning purposes... What do you guys think?

I am about to purchase a 3 year warranty and I dont want to get screwed over for having to void my own warranty in the first few months!

No, you wont void it.. unless you do something stupid.. Places like that are end user accessable so you can easily upgrade whats in them, anything past that will void it..

Thanks for the reply. I am just a little worried I guess cause the manual specifically told me not to open it. Question is, how in the world would do know even if I did? there are no stickers blocking it like my nec notebook.

i dont think they would know. I have a ze4610us and the manual says not to open the mini-pci slot, but in the service manual that a HP customer support guy emailed to me when i told him i was gonna upgrade some parts, it says that the same slot is "user accessible." I think they are inconsistant in terms of what they tell you in the manuals so just ignore it. They wont know, and it wont viod your warrenty.

Hey, I have kind of the same problem. My machine suffers from power jack problem and it is extremely hard have good connection, slight move and your connection is lost. So I went to local HP center to fix, but they could not. Told me that they are not familiar with the motherboard and indention, when I got home I discovered that one screw is missing under the screen area.
I do have warranty but the only way to use it will be when I get to the States. So what are the chances that I’m screwed with the warranty? Although, the local HP guy told me that did not touch anything inside just took a look and I’m or with the warranty.
