I have the Echo Indigo...

Four things:

1) They stopped making the regular Indigo and now only make the I/O and the DJ.

2) I got my Echo Indigo (regular one) for $99 - so try not to pay more than that if you can find one.

3) I will take some pictures of it when I get home.

4) It has the best sound quality I have ever heard - especially considering it's price. Make sure you pair it with great speakers or headphones.

whats the difference between the IO and the regular? I can find the regular for like 130... but thats about the lowest I've found (froogle, ebay and such)

The I/O stands for Input/Output.

The regular Indigo has two outputs (i.e. two headphone/speaker jacks for a maximum of two listeners - unless you get a dual channel splitter).

The Indigo I/O has an input too... so you can record digitally, using Indigo quality, various forms of audio.

ooo, aight. well, I will probably opt for the DJ, as I do like to record things from time to time. And I can always just slap a Y splitter on the output if someone else wants to listen in Any chance you remember where you got it for 99 b/c chances are they are selling the newer versions for about that also... Thanks,

iLCacciatore: Any clue where you got it for 99 by chance? Thanks,

You must have read wrong, bazzel, because the DJ version does NOT record. Only the I/O records -- hence the name 'in-out', right? Indigo I/O records only line-level sound, also. There's no onboard mic preamp/phantom power.

right, but I'm just saying I can't even find the regular (or new DJ) version for 99, let alone under like 150... So I was just thinking wherever he found it cheaper might have the I/O for less... Thanks,

I was referring to your post before that, in which you said you wanted the DJ for recording -- just clarifying that you cannot record with the Indigo DJ.

well, I got an I/O for audiomidigear on ebay for 160 shipped 2 day, but that was about the cheapest out there. Oh man is it sweet (after I figured out I had to get a special filter from echo for the ENE PCMCIA slot I have...), I can REALLY tell the difference. I love it! Thanks guys! And fook audigy!

Not to derail the thread into what audio interface is better, but the Echo Indigo I/O only has a single unbalanced input and a single unbalanced output. If you don't mind unbalanced, and you have a Firewire port available, the M-Audio Firewire Audiophile costs $125.00 minimum advertised price from a real dealer, sports MIDI I/O, 4 analog inputs, 6 analog outputs @ 96KHz/24 bit.

Just got mine yesterday in the mail. Oh my lands, does it rock.

Of course, there's the size factor to consider. The Indigo I/O is a PCMCIA card. The Firewire Audiophile is a brick about half the size of an external dvd burner. However, there *are* other good, cheap "prosumer" options out there for you.
I think the size factor is obvious. Even if I needed 6 analog outputs, I wouldn't have the deskspace for it. For tracking guitars or dialogue recording, my USB Mobile Pre has to go on the floor.

well, for me size was a big factor... thx tho,
