Attention DELL: If we wanted 'MR SPARKLE' then.... - Page 2

I hope everyone gets what they want. I think it is a little harsh to judge those of us who like our LG's as ignorant or not as tech savy which seems to be the underlying opinion though not directly stated. Hey, I am all for getting your satisfaction from the product, but don't slam someone for not sharing your opinion. It's their money and their laptop. I love mine so deal

So it's possible that the iXPS2s will get fresh screens without the ant-glare middle coating. I hope they do, because I'll be ordering one, too.
There is not likely a "middle" coating on these LCDs. LCD screens are not manufactured this way. The anti-glare material is part of the diffuser unit and a mass produced LCD panel will not likely have 2 diffuser units.

Once again, I was being sarcastic, folks...sorry, I guess I will mark all joke topics as such from now on...wasn't meaning to piss anybody off, and believe me, buddy, I'll be laughing too if the XPS2 screen sux...laughing through my tears as I pack the thing up, send it back and wait until they resolve the issue...it will be kinda funny to see the screams of outrage in the threads that follow the dropshipment of horrid, unusuable $3000 crap on people's doorsteps, and Dell's sad retreat from the enthusiast moblie marketplace with tail firmly clenched between thighs and balls cupped in their hands...

Following these threads is entertaining for sure.
You say potato, I say potato. Wait, that doesn't work in text. Diffuser, coating, whatever. The 9300 screens with sparkle have 2 layers, anti-glare and then glossy, which is the problem. You're right, they weren't intended to be manufactured this way. Dell had this done to try to prevent potential losses due to returns.

Sparkle, aw, shimmer shimmer, you are my 9300 LG.

I won't send my system back if it comes with a shitty screen. I'll just ask for replacement kits until I get the one I want.

Having witnessed the 9200 debacle first hand the shimmer of those LG's were WAY WAY bad. It gave me a headache to just look at it. I may have gotten a particularly good screen though so who knows It seems to me that the screens are a lot better than the last batch. I mean it was unbearable. I remember reading the LG's sucked here for the 9300 and with my previous experience I was expecting the same "quality" I had with my 9200. I was incredibly surprised to see that the screen far and away exceeded my expectations. Sony x-brite it may not be, but it is a pretty damn nice screen....

Ok everyone take a look at the link below it will give you a basic overview of how LCD's are made. Yes Yellowlt4 is correct there is only one polarizer (defuser) on the front of LCD panel's .

Of course, that's true for every other panel on the planet, but here are some clues about the panels Dell is shipping for the 9300:

1) They have the *exact* same part number as the older 9200 panels -- not even a new version number.

2) They have manufacture dates from late 2004.

3) They have the same "sparkle" artifacts, and these artifacts have not been observed on any other glossy panel.

4) Dell mysteriously stopped shipping WUXGA panels for the 9200 while the 9200 was still being made.

Ergo, it's looking like Dell asked the vendors to stick a glossy layer on top of the old 9200 panels, and then they shipped them out to unsuspecting 9300 buyers.
