Hello,

I want to thank the person who wrote this tutorial. It was very straightforward and easy to follow. I have successfully undervolted my Pentium M. I have a question though. I leave RM Clock Utility to run on startup. I have noticed however that when I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to see my task manager that the CPU usage is at 100%, even though RM Clock Utility shows it a very minimal level. Also I9fanGUI shows it at 100%. Why is this?

Also, under the Management tab in the RM Clock Utility, I see a box for 'Restore CPU defaults on program exit'. I have unchecked that. My question is, can I have my new voltages enabled immediately from bootup without running RM Clock Utility? Or do I have to have this program running all the time to obtain these voltages?

Thanks very much!

i under volted a p-m770 with nhc with dynamic switching on...its undervolted .700/1.100 and at 800mhz with fans on slow it idles at 33C and at full load at 2.13ghz with fans on high its at 53C...are thes good temps???

Great! This seems really cool, but I have one question..

What is "FID" and "VID" ?

the home of RMClock is RightMark.org created and run by a very talented and nice guy named Dmitri Besedin who lives in Moscow..

check out his forums, etc. and you'll know everything you want...

I undervolted my Pentium 760 with NHC. I've noticed that I can only keep volt setting while NHC is on. Every time I turn my computer voltage changes back to default level so in order to keep my settings NHC must be enabled on startup. How can I keep my volt settings without turning NHC on??

Have you guys heard of the program "Centrino Harware Control".

If you havent this thread has been a long waste of time, that program does everything.

Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) is Centrino Hardware Control. They changed the name of it.

Anyone with a 700m use CHC? If so, what are your temps and settings?

Can someone PLEASE update this great guide to the LATEST versions of PRIME95 and RightMark CPU Clock Utility.

The latest versions are:

PRIME95 v.24.14
RightMark CPU Clock Utility v.2.05

I have read the posts..but being not very computer savy, I could not follow the initial guide. The tabs and boxes in "RightMark CPU Clock Utility" have obviously changed.

Can someone PLEASE EDIT the original guide and repost it here, with the EXACT steps needed to be daone...aka...a dummie's guide to undervolting...

Please...it would be of great help...

I am using a TECRA M3, with a Dothan @ 1.6GHZ...and the FAN IS KILLING ME.

thanks again...

Why not use notebook hardware control (its much easier) if you're not computer savy and if you check the previous page you can use same/similar voltages I posted on my Tecra M3.

RMClock tutorial - quickie so i hope this is ok for everyone...

clk on "+" beside "Management and Profiles"
clk on "Performance on Demand" (what i use mostly)

clk on "Use P-State Transitions
rt clk on area below "Index FID VID"
choose "Add"
choose FID 6.0x (or whatever the lowest multplier is) and VID 0.700v (i think that's still the lowest offered)
clk "Auto adjustment intermediate P-State VIDs"

repeat above but choose the highest FID and everything else the same as above

set your VID according to the original tutorial (lol i haven't seen it in ages but it should be fine) and gradually bring it down as low as possible w/o your puter crashin'

i have a PM 2.13 and my max VID is 1.132V

NOTE: clk "Apply" after each change

under "Performance/Power Saving Preference" choose the one you want - more power or performance... i use Perf Level 4 for max perf

now if you want RMClock to manage your Power instead of Windows, Check "Override current Windows power scheme..." and set the values you want... i still use Windows for mine

NOTE: clk "Apply" after each change

now you have set it for when you are running on AC. To set it for battery, clk the "Battery" tab and repeat above

NOTE: always go back to General window Clk "Save Info"

sorry this is brief but it's all the time i have, hope this helps

the only problem with CHC is that it also works for ATI GPU's (at least it used to) and most of us have nVidia's...

also the web site is very lacking compared to RMClock ... i like bein' able to have conversations with the guy that actually wrote the software...

the original post is outdated and needs to be edited.

I'm running prime95 but its not using the cpu at 100% usage. Is this because i've selt my volts too low? I've left the minimum at default (.700) x6 and max at (1.100) x13. this is a 1.73ghz dothan/sonoma.

anyone w/ some insight?

EDIT: under my task manager it shows 100% usage which one should i believe?
Just changed it to .988 and have yet to see a blue screen...

if you read my posts on this you'll see i don't trust just running the torture tests cause i've had mine fail after just using them so i run them but also run my regular stuff IN ADDITION, to really push it as hard as i can... i guess it's how solid you want it...

the result for my XPS Gen 2 PM770 is 16x @ 1.132v ymmv (not every chip is the same even if it's the same multiplier)...
