8887 upgrade, worth it ??

I bought my 8887 in March and was told shortly after that the MOBO would be upgradable for around $500 and that when the M10 came out, it would be user-upgradeable.
Well, I called powernotebooks.com and not only is the upgrade $700+, but the graphics chip is NOT user upgradeable.

Has anyone here actually gotten the upgrade installed ?
Is it really worth it ?
