Mouse keeps jumping across screen, why???

Ok, I told myself I would just live with it, but it is driving me insane. Like once every couple of minutes of mouse use, my pointer will just disapear and it ends up being in a corner of the screen, if that makes sense. I downloaded the latests touchpad drivers so I doubt its that. Im on a 9100 and I am using a targus notebook mouse. I went to their website and they dont have any drivers for it. Any ideas???

It could be teh surface you are on. I have an optical mouse I was using that would just shoot in a random direction from time to time while I was using it on my new computer desk. Put a mouse pad under it and it stopped doing that.

Intresting you say this actually. Just wondering if you keep your laptop stationary. I say this because my freind found out some of his electronics for some reason would sometimes throw his mouse to the corner of his screen. No idea why.

Agreed with JT. I had a rather complicated mousepad... and a call to Logitech customer support fixed it. The answer was to change my mousepad as the optical mouse can't handle certain color changes.

could be a defective mouse or touchpad if your using one. try running the on board diagnostics on the system. tap F12 on the Dell logo and you'll see there the option to boot to the utility partition. once it loads there would be series of tests there for the pointing device.

Download and run "spybot".

It could be spyware/virus on your machine.

Thats an interesting idea. I just ran my adaware and spybot so ill see if that fixes it. Im betting like the others said though that I need a mouse pad, im not using one. Seems like the optical thingy could get all jacked up just being on my wood desk. I guess I wont know untill i get up and go get a mouse pad...
