Hot Swapping Drives

Hi,
Does anyone know if the drives for the secondary bay are hot swapable? I have a Floppy drive and CD ROM drive that use the secondary bay.

Thanks.

Yes, you can hot swap a 2nd battery, CD drive, or floppy using the quick release and not have to shut down (our testing it in Windows XP Pro there was no problem). You can even do it on battery power, it will show the 2nd battery being removed/added in the power meter in real time if you pull it out for a swap.

Wow! I didn't know that. I've been shutting down to swap. I'll have to try it hot.

Isn't there a utility you need to run in XP to stop your drive before you swap it out? I need to do that on my old Dell 4150 before I can hot-swap. It's pretty much a quick one-click affair, but I think it needs to be done before you can pull the drive out. Maybe it's different on the Sager.

I don't have the 2nd CD drive here, but here's what I did:

Started with the Floppy drive installed, Windows XP Pro and unhooked the power to run on batteries. I launched the application showing 2 possible batteries, but one hazed out as it was not installed. I pulled out the floppy drive and stuck the battery in and it immediately showed up the 2nd battery as 99% full. I then pulled it out and it went back to haze color and said not installed. I stuck the floppy drive in and put a disk in. It launched just fine and I could pull the files off the disk that were on it. I'm betting a CD drive will also work.
