well now i'm trying to export the movie to quicktime format. then i'll put it on my pc and try to make the dvd from that. hopefully it'll work. i'll post what happens. in the meantime, i noticed that there were more formats than quicktime. which do you think is the best for me?

well the quicktime movie had sound, but the quality was terrible. i needed it to fit on a cd to transfer to my pc, but it made it only 48mb. any advice?

well the .avi file was terrible also. even when i set the video quality to best. is there a way to export a movie in imovie that is good quality?

well the only thing i can think of is exporting it with no compression. then the file size will be roughly 1.35 gb. so then i have to find a way to get the file to my pc. i have a router, so i guess i could try networking. another option is that if i hook up my camcorder to the mac mini, it will reconize it as a dvd-rw if i don't finalize the disk. do you think it could burn to the camera?

well i made a disk image again. i opened it in the mini, and it had sound! so what's the deal now?

selecting the bitrate in handbrake will come up after u select the video source. it should be 1/2 way down the panel, u can choose to either manually set the bit rate or to select the 700MB CD option where it will adjust the bitrate accordingly. as noted manual setting is preferred.

also, did u check in quicktime to see if the converted mpeg-2 had 2 streams or 1 muxed audio/video stream?

just to clarify, the audio u want to use is from the movie clip or audio u tried to add? i.e.-an mp3

the audio is from the movie clip

i'm sure about checking in quicktime about 2 streams

and also, to clarify if this is a specific or general issue, have u tried other movies or dvd projects? if so, have they worked w/ the audio? also, are you cirrent w/ the latest software updates? i know iMovie, at least, came out w/ an update just after it was released.

i haven't tried any other videos or anything. but i did do software updates.

personally i'd try out some other video and such, just to troubleshoot whether it's a general or specific issue. maybe give it a go w/ another webcam video as well as something not from the Sony to give u a shot at whittling the problem down, and get back to us.

well, the only reason i don't think that would help is, everything works until i burn the image to a disk. so it has something to do with that. i can save to an image, and then play the image on my mac, and it works. also, i took the video from the sony, put it on my pc, and converted it to mpeg. so i don't think it's the sony either.

that is odd, prolly the last thind i'd suggest b4 calling tech support would be to mount the image and then copy the video_ts file to your PC if u can, burn it, and see if that gives u a different result

that's what i did. the thing is, the image is small enough to fit on a cd, so i was just putting the image on a cd to transfer to my pc, and i think that is where i was loosing the sound somehow. i'm not totally sure though. i finally just exported from imovie in mpeg-4 format. i'll have to settle for that for now

yeah, i'm not sure how burning to a CD would affect the audio, other than the fact that it is not being burnt to a DVD disc and obviously impacts whether a console player can play it or not...

right, but i'm not even trying to play it in a console player.
