hard drive problems

I bought an internal HD, with an external enclosure. I followed all the included directions, and hooked it up to my computer via USB.

Windows goes through it's finding and configuring hardware process, and then tells me that the hard drive is installed and ready to use.

Only problem is, it's nowhere to be found in My Computer, or the device manager.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you disabled dislpaying unit in My Computer via Power Toys or other tweaking software?

I bet it's this - Have you formatted the drive?

Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Computer Management

it turned out it was actually that whoever wrote the freakin instructions had the jumper settings wrong.

Took me 8 hours to figure that out though.
