7700 Battery

Does anywhere besides Alienware itself sell a battery pack that'll work in the 7700? I don't really want to go through fourteen phases of battery-awaiting, so I'm hoping I can pick it up somewhere else and get it faster, perhaps even at a better price. I don't think that would damage my warranty in any way. I can't find an actual model number of the battery or anything like that, so I don't know what I should be looking for.

As you probaby know the 7700 is the same thing as the Sager 9860. So check out http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/n...ccessories.cfm and http://pctorque.com/hardware.php#127 The spare battery at both these places costs $135

Is it true that the batteries take ages to charge?

They don't seem to charge too quickly, no. I noticed that the battery at Alienware is only $110, but I don't know what sort of wait time I'd be looking at.

Do they really have phases for simple items? That would be pretty sad.

Yes, but it isn't like when they put together a computer, more like this. Recieve/confirm payment, find order, packaged, shipped. No integration/burn in time or anything.

I saw a thing on the news about hydrogen powered batteries for laptops, and the battery life lasts up to 8 hours...wow...

Yeah But I would think that the number of horus given was for like a htinkpad or something...Not a desktop replacement

Yeah I know what its for, and I have it my laptop mag. But idea is made for the porty laptops not desktop replacement, so the number in hours of play will still be drasctically reduced than a real lappy....welll a port-a-lap

Yeah, I can't see myself being anywhere that doesn't have a power outlet for long...so I"m not worried about the short battery life. The two most common ways I travel long distance is by car and train...plent of outlets there!

Do you really think your car can handle that?

yeah with a Belkin Auto Power, that reconfigs your auto's power supply and stores and regenerates at 300 watts will defintetly be enough for you laptop....AW has it on sale for like 60 bucks

I ordered a mouse from Alienware one time; everything was going well for a while, but it only got 700-something RatMarks, so it shot back to Phase 5. Apparently, the internal drivers for the Cyborg Green case had gotten themselves a little out of kilter, and it was affecting the battery. The second round of burn-ins went better, and it shipped. The crazy thing is, when I benchmark it, my score for Large-Scale Cheese Rendering is just over half of what they got on burn-in. I suppose I'll have to RMA it and hope the 202 point inspection doesn't skip over the Vegetation Analysis Matriculation Perforator. (VAMP.)
