hey, would it be possible to install the regular 6800 gpu card in the XPS2 (that is, if you can order it) , and if so how quickly ? It would be nice to be able to switch between the two cards for when i travel a lot and increase charge time.

Problem with i6000 screen

Hello Wordhouse,

I recently purchased an inspiron 6000 but have had some issues with the screen. Namely, the bottom right corner of the screen seems dimmer than the rest of the screen - this is especially noticable in a white background. Also, I have some light leakage. I am planning on calling Dell for a screen replacement - When I call, is there a specific screen I should ask for that is better than others?

Thanks in advance!

I've gotta think that's not a good idea. Better not to handle the things *that* much. Eventually an ESD event can get you.

IMHO this is something to ask the marketing / sales / business people.. tech support does not make such decisions or is told about it.. as wordhouse said.. they get tech sheets for products a month before launch.

Before they launch a product they have a lot of advertising or buzz going around so u'll find out before wordhouse gets those sheets..

ALSO - I think he mentioned they only do US premier support.

Is there going to be an updated release of the 700m to fix the keyboard issue? If a new version is coming out this summer then I'll probably wait, if not I'll order it soon. TIA.

Here is a question: I'd like to upgrade some parts of my laptop (namely hard drive and memory). At what point does my work void my standard warranty? How much modding can I get away with?

Thanks

edit: Also, do you care to share about some of your experiences with disgruntled customers? I always hear people complain about customer support, it'd be nice to hear you complain about us for a change

just a little tidbit about myself, i currently handle calls from systems which have premiere warranty support. i used to handle regular consumer calls. ive been doing this for about a year now.

ill be the first to admit that not all dell tech support reps are knowledgable in computers. in fact i can say that most of the people posting on this forum have are more technically proficient than most of dell's agents.

now if you have any questions id be glad to answer them to the best of my abilities.
this msg may be off topic, but same as you are wordhouse888, im an outsourced agent for a PC company but not dell..its Gateway, and I think we are on the same building in manila if you are in ortigas. we may share some techie stuffs since my aunt gave my bro a dell lappy.
