Price Difference (Europe) 9300 vs XPS2

I live in sweden and I just noticed that the base price of the xps2 is 2.5 times that of the 9300.

... wtf? Is it like this in the US/UK/Germany/CA too?

It is not quite as bad as it looks. You are comparing the discounted 9300 price with the non discount XPS2. Dell Scandinavia has a 2000 kroner (about 22%) off special offer on the 9300.

Comparing list prices the difference in price is only slightly higher in Scandinavia (factors in brackets, alle prices excl. sales tax):
In the UK: £1299 vs £789 (1.65)
In the US: $2699 vs $1549 (1.75)
In Norway: NOK 15426 vs NOK 7790 (1.9)
In Sweden: SEK 16758 vs SEK 8790 (1.9)

As indicated in another post the XPS seems to be similarly priced. So it may even be that the 9300 is cheaper in Scandinavia?

Even though there is 2000 sek off, the price is still the same. With tax, its
XPS2: 21.791:-
vs
9300: 9.331:-

And you say it's not "bad"? Should I expect more than TWICE the lifetime and power from a xps2? I don't think so.

Edit: Looking through what was included in both prices, I should.

I managed to click around the Dell.se site I managed to find two configurations for the XPS in Sweden.

The data on the page looks wrong (I guess it's no live yet), but if you try to configure them you get to see more detailed options and prices.

Those numbers have to be wrong, the one that costs more actually have "less power".

Yeah I know, but if you click on configure, the more expensive machine has a 2.13, 1Gb Ram, 80Gb hd, DVD burner while the cheaper one has 2.0, 512Mb Ram, 60Gb hd, CD burner/DVD reader.
It's just the details on the first page that is all messed up.

Hi, this is cool! Substituting the country code for Norway in the URL brough me to the Norwegian config.

Thanks!

Oki, so I tried our newfound config pages for Norway. I set up the basic XPS config I wanted (2.13GHz, 1 gig RAM, DVD-writer etc) but excluded any country spesific options like software or special service items, only 3 year NBD on both.

List price in the US ended up at $3674, in Norway $3675! That is excluding any special offers, the US one is currently 3224 after discounts, but no equvivalent offer have yet been listed on the Norwegian one.

But it seems that even at premium configs the prices excl. sales tax is pretty much the same. That makes me quite happy.
