Price on XPS2

Thread Starter
I am looking at the Asus z71v and the XPS 2. main differences are the brand, z71v comes with 6600go while XPS2 gets the 6800 ultra, XPS2 also gets UXGA screen (but how good are dell screens anyways??) and z71v is lighter. z71v is like $1952 for 2ghz, XPS2 is like $2526 (right now with coupon). Does anybody have any idea if the price on the XPS2 will drop once people start receiving them, or if better coupons than $800 off will be available? I am unfamiliar with how dell usually operates so I was wondering because I dont think it is worth the extra 600$, and would definitely buy if it came down to $2300s. Also when using the battery, does anybody have an idea how long it would last for dvd viewing and normal processing? I have seen a time of jsut over 2hrs for gaming, but I was wondering what it would be when not gaming? Thanks for any info..

i can only say from experience. ive had the dell for a year. see sig. and it has performed admirably. not a single problem. screen is perfect. although when i was buying it, there was a raging debate going on between the hitachi vs samsung screens. with the hitachis having problems. much as there is now between the LG vs samsung. i was lucky and got the samsung.

i got the xps2 for 2400 with coupons. it'll prob. go down a few hundred bucks, not more in the next 4-5 months.
when i was configuring my 8600 online after 7-8 months, it was coming to almost the same price.

if u can wait, see some reviews of the xps2 and it depends on ur needs actually.

standard stuff. 80 gig drive. 1 gig ram, dvd-rw, bluetooth, b/g intel wireless were the upgrades.
for 2412 i think with the 750 off coupon. on 3/14

oh, and i got dell's no dead pixel/no sparkly/no ghosting/no LG satisfaction policy.
