UPS and shipping - Page 3

I seem to be having a similar problem. I had my shipping upgraded to next day by Dell after chatting with them about my XPS Gen 2. Then I looked at the UPS site last night and it said Ground. So I chatted with a Dell rep last night and he gave me a $50 coupon, but I'm still pretty mad because I need it by next Wednesday. I live in Colorado, so I'm not all that close to any of Dell's locations.

i have next day shipping, estimated delivery date from dell is tommorrow, got tracking number today and it says via ups its TUESDAY!!! should i go into that?

(yesterday it said that im gonna get it tommorow!!)

So let me figure out how youre estimated delivery (because i havent recieved a date/ my tracking number wont work on UPS yet)

if my dell order status says:
Ship Date: Monday, March 28, 2005

and I got the 2nd Day shipping,
Does that mean it comes Tuesday or Wednesday?

Ok so this is goofy... the emails I have from dell and ups tracking show that mine was sent out the 25th, and I have next day shipping,.. it is 'rescheduled' for tuesday the 29th. I am from IL, the package right now is not to far away in IL from me.

However the dell "tracking the status" site shows it was sent march 28th.. ironic how it isnt the 28th yet.. its like they are trying to cover themselves to explain that 'next day' was met.. (ie. Tuesday the 29th)

DO I have an argument w/dell to go for or not really worth it? Also is there a specific extension through dell to call and complain to... any help or suggestions would be great.

ok my ups tracking info has shown up too. dell shows delivery of 29. ups shows it as 30th . that sucks, i had 2nd day delivery.
shipping from nashville, TN, ground shipping. damn.

i chatted today about my complain with dell, she doublechecked it with ups, the tracking info on ups is not right, should be there tommorow, if not, ill get the money for shipping back!

thats a good deal i think, i could wait a day for 90bucks off^^

Well here's an update on my shipping situation. Apparently, my XPS Gen 2 should arrive on Tuesday with ground shipping according to UPS. Dell shipped it on the 25th and UPS didn't update my order status until today. Somehow between the next two days my XPS will travel from Nashville, TN to Canon City, CO. I can't believe this because it typically takes a day for something to arrive via ground here in Colorado until it is delivered to my small town. That means it will travel from TN to CO in a day. That seems pretty difficult, but hopefully it gets here then.

Maybe this will help, not sure if this applies to everyones situation though.

When a shipper (Dell) ships through UPS, UPS receives an electronic manifest. This is the billing information you're seeing when you track the order. This does not mean that UPS has the package yet. Package should be in UPS's hands the same day but occasionally the shipper (Dell) doesn't give UPS the package untill the next working day. That is why the delivery date changes. ie:
Manifest received Thursday for a NextDayAir pkg---Track shows Friday dlv
Pkg physically given to UPS on Friday---Track now shows Monday dlv

hehe suckers... an online chat dell rep says I am guaranteed to get my order tomorrow since it was shipped friday. I asked for this to be documented with a case #.. and have a #. I also have the chat conversation and print screens.

UPS already verified this will not arrive till tuesday, so via phone a csr is going to get a nice call in the morning.

Well, if they sent it grund like you said, you should be able to figure out when it will come... 3-5 business days after it was shipped.

Well they didnt guarantee any freebies.. the 'guarantee' in writing is the leverage I need to pry for freebies.. my package is ground as well. dell and UPS sites on the delivery times & dates conflict.. ups's is more accurate and will not come till tomorrow ( tuesday) thats from the ups distribution center.

yeah ups says tommorow too, although dell still says it is here today!
the dell chick i chatted with also promised and doublechecked with dell according to her information, that it will be here today.. well ups tracking says its still in nashville somewhere so i doubt that ill get it today, but well, im gonna get a present from dell i hope.

I'm in the same situation: I have next-day shipping, package shipped Friday, Dell's site says it shipped Monday (today), shipped via Ground from Nashville, supposed to arrive tomorrow. I chatted with a rep and she told me that it actually didn't get to UPS until Saturday, so overnight shipping would be Tuesday. She said they ship Ground if the destination is close enough to arrive the next day. I still find this shady, but I don't really have much to argue about. If it really was shipped Saturday, then Tuesday would be the second business day.

Just called a CSR, some of the delays occured due to 'weather situation'. UPS did verify this in their system as well from shipments from TN. Some air shipments were sent via ground or rerouted.

I did call and complain about the delay and problem now am getting a free 2nd xps 2 battery for my inconvenience.

My 9300 is being shipped ground too (scheduled for delivery tomorrow, 3/29), but I definately can't complain (!!!) since the scheduled ship date was supposed to be April 9, which was then expidited to April 2.

Just checked and my XPS2 is in the UPS sytems and will be here Tues. 29th.

My 9300 shipped this morning also FedEX and had next day and will be here on the 29th.
No service tag yet, so not sure which screens are in each (Fingers crossed)

seriously what's up with dell? they say they gave us overnight shipping, most of those people seem to have gotten ground shipping (me included). I did my regular complaint email, but let's see if i can get any freebies. I already had a $75 coupon, but heard someone got a free battery, let's see how tough this will be.
