IF you read this thread, the free products test better than Norton or McAffee. Both of these products are really bloated, and use heavy system resources for their fancy housewife-friendly screens. You have to go several pages not just this first message, which is a kickoff:http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...&enterthread=y
I am currently using mcaffee on my 9200 because I got a free deal for 15 months (and Mcaffee keeps sending me emails begging me for more money to go beyond the 15 months.) For this reason, I will never ever use Mcaffee again.
I currently use AVG on my desktop, but I don't like it because when it kicks a window up about an update, which can happen any day or night, it minimizes anything fullscreen (typically a game.)
I used Antivir for awhile. It's very tiny and very very effective. It does not auto-update, you have to right click and then choose "update" (so what) but the screens are basic, simple, non-colored..and the resources used are very small. However, the product is actually more effective than Norton or MCaffee if you read through this thread......and it's free!
Do you really care about the fancy, friendly interface of a program that should sit quietly and unobtrusively in the background?
