Canadian #1 Who's going to be first? - Page 2

Fellas...my dell rep just wrote and told me that my order should be shipped by the second week of April. Falls in line with where you are Mav...

Man I hope they're just being pessimistic...

How about you guys? Im up in Artic and without a computer - very frustrating. Hopefully when I get back to Montreal next week itll arrive before my next business trip. Funny how my salesperson quoted me 10 days and now itll be over a month!
If you ordered the 60GB 7200rpm hard drive, there is currently a backorder for us on that drive. ETA on the drive is April 4th.

I had inquired with my rep about swapping out the drive for an 80GB 5400rpm, but he told me the delay would be about the same since my machine would be put back at the beginning of the queue (instead of being fairly close to next in line as is the case right now) Based on your order date, I'm guessing our systems would be fairly close together.

So if all goes well, and your situation is indeed similar to mine, you should get your new laptop by the end of next week or sometime the following (depending how quick they get through testing).

If it's actually at a depot you could probably call ahead and then go pick it up.

No. I'll wait for it to be delivered. Much easier that way. I'm pretty far from the depot. Besides I'm really patient about this whole thing anyway. Well sort of.

My tracking still hasn't been updated since the original ship date when they picked it up at 7:30 in the morning. I have no clue where it is right now.

Must be nice. I'm not patient at all, the wait is killing me, and mine is still "in production." I pray to the gods it ships this week so that I get it next week sometime, so that I can play with it the following week when I am on holidays. I will be some pissed if I don't get it by then.

Please post lots of pics, including shield and backpack.

Thanks.

It's still in Nashville, tucked under the conveyor belt somewhere. :P

Maybe it was on the same truck as mine. Purolator ships with crate type cages in their longhaul trucks, partially emptying at different destinations. I had no update at all before it got to the sorting center in Montreal. I'll try to get a bit of a review up tomorrow; in the evening probably. I've been off work for a five day weekend, meaning that the rest on my week shall be quite busy, plus the regular evening routine of family life.

Thanks.

I'll see what I can do. I didn't order the shields though. I figured I'd be safe without them.

Anyway. my wife just got home. Time to have some homebrewed Chocolate Porter to celebrate.

Thanks WW.

My XPS2 got delayed till April 18th, was supposed to be here today. When I asked if there was anyway I could delay my order further to ensure I get the non-sparkly Samsung panel I was told that the only way to get a replacement panel if nothing is glaringly defective with the orginal, is to send the machine back and do a full system exchange. Even then though, one is still not guaranteed to get a Samsung panel.

Nice, my tracking was finally updated. The laptop is 8 hours away in Calgary. Hopefully it will get to Regina sometime tomorrow and will be in my hands Wednesday at the latest!

Hey Petri,

Cool to see another person from Saskabush here on the forum. I'm just up in Saskatoon.
Petri...your XPS2 is in Calgary? I used to work at Purolator...mind if I head over to the depot and check the screen? LOL
post #37 of 112
Hey, that's MY XPS2 that's in Calgary -- I'd better phone Purolator to find out why it has your name.

(Just kidding Petri -- hope you enjoy your laptop when it gets to Regina).
Actually, I'd better not go over there...you might get a notice that your laptop was "lost in transit" a few days later

I'm excited for you dude...let us know what you think when you get it!
Hah, now I know exactly who to blame if I receive it and it's covered in fingerprints.

I'm excited as well, but all this screen nonsense has me a bit worried. I'll be sure to post some pics and my thoughts the evening I receive it.

Maybe Dell will send us better LCDs than our neighbours to the south...to go along with the better beer and more powerful engines
